Last Year’s #1: Easier - 5 Seconds of Summer [2/3 weeks at #1]

Countdown Extra: Golden - Harry Styles

Our lowest debut of the week, at #30, I reviewed last week. It’s you broke me first by Tate McRae. I quite like this song. I think Tate sounds really good here and it’s actually a pretty interesting slow song. The production is actually something to listen to, which I really like and I think most of the song was pretty well-made. I hope that this becomes a hit and the TikTok boost probably helped quite a bit. Good song.

Debuting after WAY too long now is Dynamite by BTS. BTS actually did it for me this time and I think they really hit it out of the park with this. The song’s extremely catchy and all of them sound pretty good. The song’s in english, which definitely helps, since I can actually understand what they’re saying for the most part. I’m super glad that this has been a huge hit recently and I hope it sticks around for a bit longer. It definitely deserves it and I hope it does really well here. Oh yeah, the key change is also really well-done. Which, I mean, if you have a key change in your song at all, it automatically makes it much better. So yeah, this is good.

The highest debut this week is yet another blackbear song, this time pairing up with Machine Gun Kelly on my ex’s best friend. This is a pretty good song. Both artists sound good here and this is probably one of Machine Gun Kelly’s best performances here, much better than what he did in Bad Things where he was legit just talking. blackbear also slays. It’s not that catchy, but I think the song’s enjoyable for the most part. My only problem with it is that it’s a little too short.

Uh, so somehow, Lose Somebody took If the World Was Ending’s spot this week. OKAY! In case you guys didn’t know, I really like this song, so I’m really happy that it’s back even if I’m quite surprised that it’s back. Ryan Tedder sounds great and Kygo did a fantastic job with the production. Great song, glad it’s back. I hope it sticks around a bit longer than ItWWE did.

Best Debut: Dynamite - BTS

Biggest DROP!!!: Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat) - Jawsh 685/Jason Derulo (-16): Woah. Didn’t see this coming. Kind of sucks to see it leave so quickly, I wished it was a bit of a bigger hit here.

Biggest Jump: Mood - 24kGoldn/iann dior (+10): This is in the top 10! Yay! I hope that this makes it into the top 5!

So DaBaby actually scores a second song on Hits 1 with his remix of Dua Lipa’s song Levitating. Oh, this is so good. Easily the best single off of Future Nostalgia so far. Dua’s solo version of the song is great in itself. The production is amazing, Dua sounds great and the song just has a great vibe to it. Then DaBaby comes in with this remix and a killer verse. He makes essentially any pop song better, and it could not be truer here. GREAT song.

Shawn Mendes dropped a new song with one day’s notice and it’s the title track from a new album coming in December, Wonder. In case you didn’t understand, this song is called Wonder. Can Shawn make a bad song? Yeah, not really. This song is ridiculously cinematic and I think his voice works really well with it. I like the production and I like the chorus. Great song, but not as good as Levitating.

Laugh Now Cry Later left the Countdown and re-entered Hit-Bound this week. Hits 1 seems to be super anti-Drake even if they’re adding more rap music, which I really don’t get.

So this year we’ve had Falling by Trevor Daniel, Falling by Harry Styles and now Fallin’ by Why Don’t We… oh boy. Anyways, this new Why Don’t We song comes about a year after their last single, What Am I and I’d argue that this is better. It’s a lot faster than What Am I and the chorus is honestly pretty cool. Yeah, if I’d use one word to describe this song it would probably be epic. It’s one of those songs that sounds like it could be in a movie. I think all of the guys here did a pretty good job vocally. Overall, a surprisingly good song from these guys.

Best Debut: Levitating - Dua Lipa/DaBaby

Blurb It Up Like Dynamite, Oh-Oh-Oh

We lost three songs that I haven’t talked about already, Watermelon Sugar, If the World Was Ending and Like That. I’m glad to see both Watermelon Sugar and Like That leave, since both of them are pretty old. As for If the World Was Ending, I’m just very confused because the re-entry last week now seems just really pointless.

We also lost three Hit-Bound songs, Stunnin’, F2020 and Figure It Out. Figure It Out was never expected to debut by anybody, so I don’t care at all. As for Stunnin’ and F2020, I really wish that they both debuted and it sucks that they didn’t.

Just a little sneak peek of next week, we may see some songs by Pop Smoke and X Lovers.

I never thought that I would like WOW, but Imanbek made a remix of it and it’s quite good. You may not like it at first, but give it a few listens. It’s good, trust me.

Save Myself actually jumped a surprising amount this week, which I didn’t expect. Can’t say I’m happy, can’t say I’m not.

Breaking Me fell out of the top 10, which really sucks since it’s good.

ROCKSTAR needs to hit the top 10 again soon! Although I am glad with the amount of success it’s gotten so far.

Monsters is close to the top 10, which is surprising, but I’m happy.

Wildflower entered the top 10. Kind of expected it, but happy nonetheless.

Moral of the Story isn’t #1 anymore!!! Wooooooh! Hopefully it’ll start dropping pretty quickly.

Falling is up to #2, which is kind of just Hits 1 being Hits 1. Hopefully, Bang! hits #1 before Falling does.

Come & Go is #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I seriously never thought Juice WRLD could get the #1 here and it’s the best tribute they could give to him. I hope this sticks around for a bit at #1!

    1. Nowhere, it was a compliment, so I let it get through. It's not like he was saying anything annoying.
