Top 45 Songs of 2019 According to Hits 1

Hey guys! I’m here today with the top 45 song of 2019 according to Hits 1! Now, before we start this year’s list, let’s flash back to the top 5 of 2018.

#5: Youngblood - 5 Seconds of Summer
#4: High Hopes - Panic! At The Disco
#3: Say Amen (Saturday Night) - Panic! At The Disco
#2: Whatever It Takes - Imagine Dragons
#1: The Middle - Zedd/Maren Morris/Grey

BTW, the peaks are just in 2019. For example, thank u, next got 7 weeks at #1 total on the Hot 100, but only 1 in 2019, so I only put 1 week.

#45: Good As Hell - Lizzo
Peak: #3
Hot 100 Peak: #3
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
Alright! We’re kicking it off well with an actual good song by Lizzo! This one’s called Good As Hell and the hook here is great. She actually sounds good here unlike in Truth Hurts and this song is so catchy. The background vocals also sound really good and fit really well with the song. This could possibly do even better next year, so it might show up on the 2020 Year-End list.

#44: Circles - Post Malone
Peak: #2
Hot 100 Peak: #1; 2 weeks
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #62
Next up we have some really good Post Malone with Circles. I really like what Post did with the recent album. He sounds really good in this one, and I think his voice works really well with the beat. At first I was kind of uneasy about it, but now I’m sure I like it. It even landed a few weeks at my #1. I really hope it hits #1 and gets Post his first #1 on Hits 1. I’m not quite sure it’ll happen, since it’s already hit a #2 peak, and it’s sitting at #5, but you never know with Hits 1.

#43: Rescue Me - OneRepublic
Peak: #12
Hot 100 Peak: N/A
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
Hey, I remember this! This was the huge return of OneRepublic. Rescue Me is really good. The instrumentation in this song is really good and I honestly love OneRepublic. I’m very happy this outperformed Wanted this year, since Wanted just hit the countdown, and I’m not quite sure it’ll do that well, which is good. Anyways, back to this song. Ryan Tedder’s vocals are really good, especially in the last chorus, and overall the thing is just really catchy and I wish it were still on the countdown.

#42: The Hype - Twenty One Pilots
Peak: #9
Hot 100 Peak: N/A
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
Ah, this song. I first heard this song in the UK, and I instantly fell in love. Tyler Joseph’s vocals sound amazing, especially in the bridge, and I just love the ukulele in the bridge. The chorus is really catchy and I love the piano too. I don’t know why, but I find it fits really well. Especially at the end, when it’s just the piano. This song hit a #9 peak, and it’s starting to drop, but I really don’t want it to.

#41: Graveyard - Halsey
Peak: #3
Hot 100 Peak: #34
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
This is the best Halsey song from her new album. She actually doesn’t sound that bad. Whereas in Nightmare and Without Me, which are certain to be higher on this list, she sounds really bad and they’re very annoying. I really like the production here and I like the ‘bubbly’? sound in the pre-chorus and chorus. This song might go higher, I’m not sure, it’s not looking too hot.

#40: i’m so tired… - Lauv/Troye Sivan
Peak: #12
Hot 100 Peak: #81
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
Aw man, I missed this song. It’s so catchy. Both Lauv and Troye sound really good and I really don’t get why everybody hates Lauv so much. Although, Troye does sound better than Lauv. I really have not much else to say about this, so I’m just gonna move on.

#39: Never Really Over - Katy Perry
Peak: #10
Hot 100 Peak: #15
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
Meh. This song is okay. It was produced by Zedd, which you can really tell that it was, because oh guess what? Everybody’s favourite ticking clock makes an appearance in the pre-chorus. Yaaaaaaaay. Anyways, the hook here is actually really catchy, but the rest of the song is just really boring. Sure, Katy doesn’t sound so bad, but the song as a whole just sounds bland and unoriginal. This song flopped everywhere for a good reason.

#38: Señorita - Shawn Mendes/Camila Cabello
Peak: #3
Hot 100 Peak: #1; 1 week
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #15
This was a great surprise at the beginning of the summer, we got another collaboration between Shawn and Camila. Camila again goes with the latin vibe, but this time brings Shawn along, and it actually works pretty well. I feel like IKWYDLS was more a Shawn-type song, and this is more of a Camila-type song. Anyways, unlike IKWYDLS, both singers are singing at the same time, instead of getting their own parts. Which is okay. Like, it’s not better than before, but it’s okay. Clearly, people like this song though, since it hit #1 on the Hot 100 two weeks after Old Town Road was dethroned.

#37: Sunflower - Post Malone/Swae Lee
Peak: #11
Hot 100 Peak: #1; 1 week
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #2
Aw man, whenever you here Swae Lee at the beginning of this song, you know you’re in for a treat. I never expected a collaboration between these two, but somehow it worked really well. This was the first single from Hollywood’s Bleeding, and actually from the Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse soundtrack, but we’re ignoring that for now. Both Swae and Post sound really good here and the beat is so good. My only problem with this is that it’s too short. But other than that, great song, Post.

#36: Call You Mine - The Chainsmokers/Bebe Rexha
Peak: #5
Hot 100 Peak: #56
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
Hey, I remember when this took like twelve weeks to debut! Anyways, this was the not-really expected collab between The Chainsmokers and Bebe Rexha and it worked so well. Bebe always sounds good, and it really shows here. The production is also really good on this one, compared to some other songs, and it’s especially great in the last chorus with the violins and everything, and wow. What a song. Too bad it didn’t get enough success.

#35: Cool - Jonas Brothers
Peak: #1; 1 week
Hot 100 Peak: #27
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
I don’t know why this even hit #1 on the countdown. This is for SURE the worst song on Happiness Begins and people started to realize that, and it started to drop everywhere. Except Hits 1. Of course. This song is so boring, and they didn’t even try. Like, just look at that songwriting, like come on. You can’t be much worse than that. And if that wasn’t enough, the production is lazy too. They didn’t even try with this one. Definitely not deserving of this spot.

#34: Walk Me Home - P!nk
Peak: #3
Hot 100 Peak: #49
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #99
I wasn’t really expecting this to be this high, let alone on the list at all. This song hit #3, and then flopped instantly. But honestly, I’m not complaining. P!nk sounds so good and this was the only actual single from Hurts 2B Human that we got from Hits 1, (other than Hustle, but like… that wasn’t really a single) but honestly, I’m glad it was this song that they picked up. If I’m being honest, I kind of forgot about this song. Oops.

#33: Dancing With A Stranger - Sam Smith/Normani
Peak: #7
Hot 100 Peak: #7
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #14
I remember when I first heard this song, and I actually really liked it. And then radio saw it and said “Aw, this is fun. Better destroy it.” and they started playing it like a million times a day. But this song isn’t bad, I feel like I’ll like it when I hear it for the 2019 Ultimate Rank, but not right now. I find it kind of boring right now and just annoying because I’ve heard it so many times. By all means, though, it’s not a bad song. Both Sam and Normani sound great and have amazing chemistry. The verses are really good, it’s just the chorus that’s kind of annoying.

#32: Dancing’s Not a Crime - Panic! At The Disco
Peak: #10
Hot 100 Peak: N/A
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
When a non-single hits the year-end list, you know Hits 1 stans that artist. This isn’t bad, though, I just find it so weird because it wasn’t a single. But anyways, Brendon Urie sounds really good in this, and the chorus is really catchy, energetic and fun. In fact, the entire song is really energetic. Of course, you have those moments when the songwriting isn’t great. Like the “Do it, do it, do it do it (without me)” part, but overall it’s not bad. This was honestly one of my favourite songs from Pray for the Wicked.

#31: Talk - Khalid/Disclosure
Peak: #6
Hot 100 Peak: #3
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #8
This song also got killed by radio. It’s not bad though, don’t get me wrong. I’m not sure I’m totally on board with this vibe though, and the fact that it’s Khalid’s highest-peaking song ever kind of scares me, but I’m sure he won’t stray too far from R&B. This song isn’t bad, in fact the beat is really good. Disclosure did a really good job with that. It didn’t get as much success here than it did everywhere else, but that’s not really a bad thing.

#30: 7 rings - Ariana Grande
Peak: #4
Hot 100 Peak: #1; 8 weeks
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #7
I have to review this again. Dang it. Alright, I’ll just get straight to the point. This song was based off of a song from The Sound of Music, which was a great movie, but then Ariana touched it. Yeah, I didn’t really like the thank u, next album at all. The writing here is especially horrible. I really wish this wasn’t a hit. Fun fact: this song and my favourite song on this list, Bad Liar, debuted Hit-Bound the same week.

#29: thank u, next - Ariana Grande
Peak: #5
Hot 100 Peak: #1; 1 week
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #12
Great. More Ariana Grande. I’m glad this one is higher than 7 rings, since it’s significantly better (it’s still not good). This song's just really annoying. I mean, sure the message is good, but it was not executed very well. I love what she was going for here, but she definitely missed the mark, and I really don’t get the appeal at all, whereas with 7 rings, I can. I don’t know, I just didn’t exactly fall in love with Ariana Grande this year. She’s had better singles in the past, and future, both of which flopped, so this (contrary to popular belief) was not her career high.

#28: Beautiful People - Ed Sheeran/Khalid
Peak: #1; 1 week
Hot 100 Peak: #13
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #50
This song is so beautiful. Which I guess is ironic because it’s in the title, but whatever. I always love a nice ballad from Ed Sheeran. When I first saw Ed Sheeran and Khalid, I was like “this is not going to work. But fortunately, Ed was smart, and they’re never singing at the same time. I like the way you think Ed, because that would not have worked. Hearing this song for the first time was honestly a highlight of my year. The first time I heard Khalid start singing, I literally got chills. His voice layered like that sounds amazing. I wish this the best and maybe another week at #1. You never know.

#27: If We Have Each Other - Alec Benjamin
Peak: #3
Hot 100 Peak: N/A
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
Hey, another non-single! My favourite! Now, Walk Me Home and this had similar runs, both hitting a #3 peak out of nowhere, then dropping, except that this song jumped back up and is still on the countdown. Anyways, now onto the song. The songwriting is easily the best part of the song. It’s so sweet. As for the rest of the song, it’s an Alec Benjamin song. It’s not that great. Also, I feel like you already know what the song sounds like when you see the name Alec Benjamin. That’s how much his songs sound like each other.

#26: bad guy - Billie Eilish
Peak: #10
Hot 100 Peak: #1; 1 week
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #4
Yeah, Billie Eilish burst onto the scene this year, bringing this new vibe with her. And personally, I’m not a fan of whisper-singing. If you can even call it singing. The best part of this song was definitely the production. The rest is just not great. I’d rather not review this right now, because we just got rid of it on the countdown, and I like to think it doesn’t exist. Hits 1 also cut the ending. Just thought I should mention that.

#25: Truth Hurts - Lizzo
Peak: #2
Hot 100 Peak: #1; 7 weeks
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #13
Geez, that’s a lot of not-great songs in a row. Thank goodness it was broken up by Beautiful People. This song is annoying. Her voice is annoying, Lizzo calling herself a “b****” is annoying, the beat is annoying, the songwriting is annoying, and the fact that she just performed this on SNL and it somehow sounded not bad is really annoying. Alright, I’m done ranting. Now let’s get to a good song.

#24: Old Town Road (Remix) - Lil Nas X/Billy Ray Cyrus
Peak: #7
Hot 100 Peak: #1; 19 weeks
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #1
When a country-trap meme hits #24 on the year-end list of a pop station, you know it’s a good song. I don’t have to say much, because I’m certain you’ve heard it before, but in short, this song was great, definitely unexpected, but a welcome surprise, and really shouldn’t work, but it does. In every way. Even freaking Billy Ray Cyrus works and sounds good in this song.

#23: ME! - Taylor Swift/Brendon Urie
Peak: #2
Hot 100 Peak: #2
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #43
This was the first single from Lover, Taylor Swift’s newest album, and it’s the best single. I was definitely not expecting the queen of pop to do a collaboration with Brendon Urie of all people, and Hits 1 stans Brendon, so that made it even better. Both artists make this song sound so good and fun and energetic and really make you just want to get up and dance. This was one of my favourite songs of 2019. Just the level of hype this song got shot it all the way up to #2 on the Hot 100, (before flopping) and it was definitely deserving.

#22: Speechless - Dan + Shay
Peak: #9
Hot 100 Peak: #24
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #35
This is such a sweet song. Also, as an added bonus, it sounds really sweet too. This is a great wedding song and honestly, I would walk down the aisle to this. Even though I’m not getting married anytime soon. Dan + Shay have always been one of the only country artists I actually like, and they just proved themselves even more with this one. Sure, it got annoying at one point, when Hits 1 refused to give it up, but it’s fine now, because I actually haven’t heard this song in a really long time.

#21: Love Me Less - MAX/Quinn XCII
Peak: #10
Hot 100 Peak: N/A
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
This was good when it first came out. It hasn’t aged well. This is just really mediocre. Like, sure MAX sounds okay, but he’s not a great singer. This is catchy enough, but not enough to actually take off anywhere but here. I always liked this one, and I feel like now I’m realizing that it wasn’t actually that good. I mean, it’s okay, but at this point, I don’t think I’m gonna revisit it. Fun fact: this song is still on my Hunger Games Countdown. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you might want to scroll down a bit.

#20: Chlorine - Twenty One Pilots
Peak: #11
Hot 100 Peak: N/A
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
This is a really unique song. I kind of love it and I’m very happy it hit the top 20 on this list. Tyler Joseph has a really unique voice and it goes really well with this song. I love what they were going for with this. It probably could’ve been executed a little better, but whatever. It starts to get really good at the “Had you in my coat pocket” part, and for the rest it’s just really good. The outro is honestly one of my favourite parts of the song. Too bad the song was cut by Hits 1. It is like 5 minutes long though, uncut.

#19: 2002 - Anne-Marie
Peak: #6
Hot 100 Peak: N/A
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
Hey, I forgot about this song! I loved it so much when it was still big. The chorus is really catchy. Anne-Marie sounds really good in this and I still don’t get why people don’t like her voice. I like the throwbacks in the chorus, although that is kind of an overused concept. The guitar riff that plays throughout the song is really good. I hope you know what I’m talking about, if you don’t you may need to relisten to the song. Anyways, yeah. A really good song and it’s a shame it only hit #3.

#18: I Don’t Care - Ed Sheeran/Justin Bieber
Peak: #5
Hot 100 Peak: #2
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #16
I don’t know why this didn’t get more success than it did here. It spent multiple weeks at #2 on the Hot 100, but only hit a #5 peak here. Anyways, again I wasn’t expecting this collaboration at all. But somehow it seemed to work. Ed really teamed up with some unexpected people for this album. It worked really well though. Both Ed and Justin sound really good, and the song is really catchy. The little “beat?” thing that plays at the beginning and throughout the song, you know the, “DO DO, DO DO, DO DO, DO DOOO” thing? No? Whatever. Moving on.

#17: Bad Liar - Imagine Dragons
Peak: #6
Hot 100 Peak: #56
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
I LOVE this song. It’s just so beautiful. It’s actually my favourite Imagine Dragons song and I miss it a lot on the countdown. I love Dan’s voice in the pre-chorus, and just hearing this song again brings back so many good memories from when this song first came out. I legit get chills in the last chorus still, even though I’ve heard it a million times before. This is hands-down the best song of the year, and it’s great that it’s coming from probably my favourite band. I know, not many people liked Origins, but I’m still loyal. I hope they come out with more music soon. I’m really glad this is at #17 even though it only hit a #6 peak on the countdown.

#16: Here With Me - Marshmello/CHVRCHES
Peak: #5
Hot 100 Peak: #31
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
Hey, remember this song? If I’m being honest, I forgot about it and had no clue it would be in this list, let alone so high. Anyways, onto the actual review of the song. Marshmello did a really good job on the production here, and Lauren Mayberry sounds really good. This song is just a little too repetitive for my tastes, but it’s still good.

#15: Close To Me - Ellie Goulding/Diplo
Peak: #7
Hot 100 Peak: #24
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #58
This was the huge return of Ellie Goulding, and as a result, we got this song pretty high on the countdown. It’s too bad Swae Lee got edited out, since he actually added a lot to the song. I feel like Diplo did a decent job with the production, and the song was really well musically written (like, notes and stuff. Not lyrics). So yeah, a great song that definitely deserved to be in the top 15 of the year.

#14: You Need To Calm Down - Taylor Swift
Peak: #1; 1 week
Hot 100 Peak: #2
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #39
This was the second-best single from Lover, and actually the second single too. But, according to the world, it was the best single. This song is alright. It’s not great for Taylor Swift standards, but it’s not horrible. The layering in the chorus is good, and the beat was really well-made. I feel like there were some songs that should’ve been higher than this, (*cough* ME! *cough*) but whatever. This is alright up here too.

#13: Nightmare - Halsey
Peak: #2
Hot 100 Peak: #15
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
This was a horrible surprise in the summer. I thought Without Me was it, but… then we got this. A song where Halsey is just screaming over a poorly made beat. I mean, she sounds okay in the verses, but then you just get to that chorus, and EHG! She just sounds horrid! Like, she’s not even singing! She’s screaming into a microphone! Nobody wants to hear that! Especially because it flopped everywhere except (of course) here. Plus, it’s still on the countdown. Please die, Nightmare.

#12: Easier - 5 Seconds of Summer
Peak: #1; 3 weeks
Hot 100 Peak: #48
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
This was better live. Because there was actually a band. I heard this live, and then didn’t really like the original anymore. It’s alright, both singers sound fine, but there’s just production and no band. Apparently, Charlie Puth worked on this and yeah. You can definitely hear him all over this song. Actually, he did a remix of it. I haven’t heard it myself, because I personally don’t care what it sounds like, but you guys can listen to it if you want.

#11: Let Me Down Slowly - Alec Benjamin
Peak: #4
Hot 100 Peak: #79
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
This song is underwhelming and didn’t deserve to be anywhere near the top 10. I’m glad it isn’t in the top 10, but still… that is all.

#10: High Hopes - Panic! At The Disco
Peak: #2
Hot 100 Peak: #4
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #11
I guess our #4 song last year only fell to #10 this year, while our #1 isn't here. I mean, let’s be honest it’s deserving of it. This was really Brendon’s big single that got just him as an artist a lot of success and, in retrospect, probably created ME!, which is cool. This is such an energetic song, and I love it so much. I remember first hearing this song, and just being blown away at how much energy this guy has. This is definitely my favourite single from Pray for the Wicked.

#9: If I Can’t Have You - Shawn Mendes
Peak: #1; 9 weeks
Hot 100 Peak: #2
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #29
Meh. This song got old quick. I don’t think it held up very well. Sure, Shawn sounds really good in this. And I mean really good, and the song is catchy and all, but I just don’t really want to hear this song anymore. Yeah, I’ll review this again like halfway through the year next year when it’s time comes in the 2019 Ultimate Rank.

#8: Someone You Loved - Lewis Capaldi
Peak: #1; 3 weeks
Hot 100 Peak: #1; 3 weeks
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #27
This was one of my favourite huge hits of the year. I love hearing this and I think Lewis just has a great and unique voice. The piano line, even though it’s basic, sounds really good and works with the entire song. Personally, I enjoy his new single, Before You Go more, but we’ll probably see that closer to next year. Anyways, this was a great song and I’m very happy that Lewis Capaldi broke out this year, and I’d love to see more from him in the future.

#7: Happier - Marshmello/Bastille
Peak: #2
Hot 100 Peak: #2
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #6
This song actually ranked a lot lower than this last year, even though that was when it got it’s weeks at #1, but whatever, it’s here now. This was a great song. It was like a happy song with sad lyrics which always confuses me, but I got used to it. Dan Smith sounds really good with this song and I’m glad this was Marshmello’s biggest hit. It’s not on the countdown anymore, which kind of sucks, but it’s pretty old, what do you expect?

#6: Sweet but Psycho - Ava Max
Peak: #2
Hot 100 Peak: #10
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #23
I used to really not like this song, because it got annoying, but now it’s kind of grown on me again. It’s just so catchy. I give it the award that I just made up of the Most Catchy Song of the Year. Congrats. I actually really miss this song and I’m glad this was her breakout song, since her second single, So Am I, was definitely not as good, and it didn’t peak as high as this. This song just missed #1, hitting #2 while I believe Hey Look Ma and Without Me were rotating weeks. So yeah, great song that I actually really like now.

#5: This Feeling - The Chainsmokers/Kelsea Ballerini
Peak: #1; 4 weeks
Hot 100 Peak: #50
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
This song just missed the year-end list last year, so I’m glad it’s this high this year, since it definitely deserves being in the top 5. Kelsea sounds so good, and Drew doesn’t sound so bad either, and I got to hear him do this song live. The guitar in this song is easily the best part of this song. The pre-chorus is also really good and probably my second favourite part. Like, you know, the part right before the drop. So yeah, a great song that definitely deserved seven weeks at #1.

#4: Sucker - Jonas Brothers
Peak: #1; 13 weeks
Hot 100 Peak: #1; 1 week
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #10
The song that broke all kinds of records only hit #4 on the year-end list! What!? Well, I mean, I know how it happened, but I feel like the song that debuted at #7 and got 13 weeks at #1 should’ve outplaced Without Me. But it’s Hits 1. They seem to have no algorithm, since this song is currently sitting #3 on the 2019 Ultimate Rank. And that’s the only spoiler I’m giving! But yeah, I remember when this song first came out, and the hype was REAL!!! Everybody was so excited for this, and it was definitely worth it. I loved this song when it first came out, and I still love it today.

#3: Without Me - Halsey
Peak: #1; 5 weeks
Hot 100 Peak: #1; 2 weeks
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #3
I didn’t expect this to be this high, although in retrospect I probably should’ve. Let’s get one thing straight. I don’t like this song. At first, I found it okay, but then it got huge, and I didn’t like it anymore. It’s really annoying now. Her voice isn’t good, the song is way too catchy and overall, the song isn’t great. I don’t really like Halsey as a whole, and this song really doesn’t put her in a good spot with me. I don’t know, to this day, I still find it super annoying, even though it left the countdown a long time ago.

#2: Hey Look Ma, I Made It - Panic! At The Disco
Peak: #1; 3 weeks
Hot 100 Peak: #16
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: #61
This was almost the first song on Hits 1 to last three calendar years, but unfortunately, that was not the case. This song was in the top 20 for the entire year, except for right at the end of it’s run, so I’m not sure why it isn’t #1 of the year. Anyways, onto the actual song. This song is pretty good, I feel like Brendon did a good job with this one. Now, this wasn’t actually a huge hit anywhere else, but it was big enough that it actually made somewhat of an impact other than Hits 1. Anyways, I feel like this was more deserving of #1 than our actual #1, but whatever. And our #1 song of the year is…

#1: Who Do You Love - The Chainsmokers/5 Seconds of Summer
Peak: #1; 2 weeks
Hot 100 Peak: #52
Hot 100 Year-End Spot: N/A
Yeah, I have no clue what Hits 1’s algorithm is for this, but I feel like it’s just a guy that says “oh, yeah. This should go here, I like that song.” I mean, this is kind of made for Hits 1 since it’s two of their favourite artists, so you can’t expect this to not do well. Hey, remember when SICKO MODE debuted higher than this? Yeah, that’s weird to look back on. As for the song, it’s good enough. I’m glad the #1 wasn’t a song that I hated, like last year *cough* The Middle *cough*. But yeah, this is a pretty good #1 and I’m glad it made it.

Countdown Extra: Bob Dylan - Fall Out Boy

Okay, so first we have a song that’s kind of late here… it’s Panini by Lil Nas X. I don’t like this as much as Old Town Road, but the beat is definitely better. I find his voice is still good here. I seriously don’t know why I like this style so much. I’m not sure it’s gonna do too well here, since it’s kind of losing traction everywhere, but we’ll see. With Hits 1, really anything can happen.

Next, we have a not so great OneRepublic song called Wanted. This song is just so boring, bland and unoriginal. The production is so lazy here and Ryan Tedder doesn’t sound that great. I’m really disappointed by This because I know OneRepublic is capable of so much more.

At #34, we have our best debut, from Ed Sheeran’s collaborations album, it’s South of the Border with Camila Cabello and Cardi B. I seriously didn’t think this would work, but boy did it work. Both Ed and Camila work great with the vibe of that song, and even Cardi’s verse isn’t even that bad. The beat in this song is really good and I just love this song so much.

And for our highest debut, we have Don’t Start Now by Dua Lipa. At first, I didn’t really like this song, but boy did it grow on me. This entire song is really catchy and I especially love the part with the wooden blocks in the chorus. I’d love to see this do well here, and I think it will.

Best Debut: South of the Border - Ed Sheeran/Camila Cabello/Cardi B

Biggest DROP!!!: You Need To Calm Down - Taylor Swift (-5): Man, our biggest jumps and drops have been really small lately.

Biggest Jump: Into the Unknown - Panic! At The Disco (+11): I really hope this keeps jumping since this is a great song.

My Top 5 Picks
#5: South of the Border - Ed Sheeran/Camila Cabello/Cardi B (#34)

Play Your Game - X Lovers [1]
Push My Luck - The Chainsmokers [6*]
Mind Is A Prison - Alec Benjamin [1]
Wave - Meghan Trainor/Mike Sabath [10*]

Starting with a really bad single from Lizzo called Cuz I Love You. Her voice is so grating in this song especially in the “I’M CRYING, CUZ I LOOOOOOVE YOOOOOOOU” part. I kind of like the horns in the chorus, but other than that, this song isn’t very good.

Next is a song that I recommended a really long time ago called Good Thing by Zedd and Kehlani. I love this song and I feel like Zedd really redeemed himself here from The Middle. Kehlani sounds great here and we really haven’t heard much from her since Nights Like This with Ty Dolla $ign, so I’m glad she’s back. Overall this is a great song, even though it still uses that stupid ticking clock which needs to die.

Next up we have these two guys called X Lovers (kind of a stupid name) with a song called Play Your Game. This sounds like k-pop. Especially the “EH! EH! EH!” part. I really don’t feel like reviewing it, because it’s probably not gonna debut, so there’s no real point.

Mind Is A Prison is a typical Alec Benjamin song. I feel like that’s all I need to say and you know exactly what it sounds like.

Don’t Blurb Now

Alright, so last week we lost two songs, Stack It Up and all the good girls go to hell. I’m really glad Stack It Up left, but I can’t believe all the good girls didn’t last longer. And then for this week’s exits, we have Watermelon Sugar, frick, i’m lonely, Lights Up and Look At Her Now. Watermelon Sugar and Lights Up were really good and left too soon, same with frick, i’m lonely. And Look At Her Now was just okay.

Not much happened this week, so there’s no more blurbs, because I have nothing to say.

Countdown Extra: Wanted - OneRepublic

So our first new song this week comes from Panic! At The Disco (who else) from the new Frozen 2 soundtrack, it’s their cover of Into the Unknown, from the movie. I’m gonna be honest here, you can tell it’s from Frozen. Which isn’t a bad thing! Ha, gotcha! It’s a really fun song and you can really just kind of hear the story happen. Anyways, my one small problem with this is that this is a duet. And it’s just sung by Brendon Urie. But whatever, I don’t care all that much. *3 weeks in Hit-Bound, 4 weeks on Voting Poll

Next we have more Harry Styles, this being the highest-debuting and definitely worst single coming up at #25. This song is just so boring. It has no life to it. Like, at least Watermelon Sugar has that awesome beat and that catchy hook, but this is just nothing! Literal nothing! Where is the song? I don’t see it! Where did it go? Did it ever exist? Guess not. Never mind, only one debut this week. Wait, I didn’t even say the name of the song. Never mind. There is no song.

Best Debut: Into the Unknown - Panic! At The Disco

Biggest DROP!!!: Beautiful People - Ed Sheeran/Khalid (-6): Why am I reviewing this? It’s at #9.

Biggest Jump: Lose You To Love Me - Selena Gomez & Lover (Remix) - Taylor Swift/Shawn Mendes (+4): This has got to be the smallest-biggest jump of the year.

I just remembered I promised you guys a review of last week’s Hit-Bound debuts this week. Alright, here we go. We’re kicking it off with a great new Lewis Capaldi song from this week called Before You Go. Now, I actually think this is better than Someone You Loved. The lyrics just sound like he thought them through a bit more, and overall I think the guitar just works really nicely with his voice. I really hope this debuts, and it probably will, since it’s a real single unlike Hold Me While You Wait which left this week. Whatever, this is better. I’m not complaining.

Next, we have some new Camila Cabello with Living Proof. This is okay. I mean, it’s not great, I don’t really like those really high notes in the chorus, and overall I find it kind of boring and I highly doubt it’ll debut the countdown. So I don’t really feel the need to review this all that much. Camila has just been kind of bland with this new album.

Right after that, we have another song that debuted last week with hot girl bummer by blackbear. I really didn’t expect this to get picked up by Hits 1. I’m not sure why, because ROXANNE got picked up, but whatever, I’m not complaining about either of those! This song is honestly great. I find his vocals are like, just on the edge of annoying, but to the point where it’s actually enjoyable and a decent listen. I realize now that doesn’t make much sense, but I couldn’t care less, okay? I’m tired and I need to get this post out, so now I’m just putting random filler in here to fill up space. Anyways, NEXT!

So next we have a ballad by Halsey called Finally // beautiful stranger. Yeah, I’m not quite sure what’s up with the double slashes there, but whatever. This song is alright. She sounds pretty good for the most part, and her voice actually works surprisingly well for a ballad, but my one main issue is that it just really isn’t for me and I find it kind of boring. I know there are some people however, that would really like this, so I’m not really one to talk here.

Okay, next we have some more Niall Horan after the success of Nice To Meet Ya, except this time he brings us another ballad called Put A Little Love On Me. You know, it kind of reminds me a bit of This Town. In fact, he references that saying, “when the lights come up and there’s no shadows dancing” which I think is pretty cool. His voice works well here and it’s really just a sweet song. Although, for some reason, I’m not quite sure it’ll do well.

Next we have the return of Ava Max with AJ Mitchell, with Slow Dance. I actually forgot about Ava Max. But with this song too, I doubt I will for a while. I really like this a lot. The chorus is super catchy and I like her voice in a duet. AJ is good too, but his voice is just okay. If you haven’t listened to this, I highly suggest you do, because I can’t explain it very well.

Our last debut from the past two weeks is Walking by 88rising, Joji, Jackson Wang, Swae Lee and Major Lazer. This song is forgettable. Like, so forgettable that I forgot. I doubt it’ll debut, but if it does I’ll try and review it.

Last Year’s #1: Youngblood - 5 Seconds of Summer [5/5 weeks at #1]

Countdown Extra: Don’t Start Now - Dua Lipa

Alright so our first debut this week comes from Harry Styles. It’s Watermelon Sugar. At first, I didn’t really like it all that much, but it’s definitely grown on me. I think his voice sounds really good and the song is really unique. I love the beat and the vibe here and I’d love to see Harry make more songs like this. (I still like Lights Up more though.) *1 week in Hit-Bound, 2 weeks on Voting Poll

At #37, we have Purple Hat by Sofi Tukker. This song is okay. Mainly just because of the production though. The rest of it isn’t that great because it’s just a dude talking over a beat. There are some parts where there’s singing, but those parts are really weird. Especially the “DANCING, PEOPLE” part. So yeah, this isn’t great, although I can kind of see this becoming a hit.

Next up we have the definition of boring, I Hate LA by Hot Chelle Rae. Remember these guys? They had that song a long time ago, Tonight Tonight? No? Yeah, that’s okay, me neither. And honestly, I doubt I’ll remember them next year, because this song is super boring. It literally has nothing to it. I really wish this would do everyone a favour and leave. Please.

Our highest debut really grew on me. It’s ROXANNE by Arizona Zervas. I think this is a great meme song and the production here is really good too. I honestly don’t find his voice that bad. I really wish this the best and it kind of looks like it’s destined for #1 on the Hot 100. Probably not here though. *2 weeks in Hit-Bound, 3 weeks on Voting Poll

Blurb-ermelon Sugar

We lost Cool, I Don’t Care, Higher Love and Call You Mine this week. Cool was really bad and I Don’t Care and Call You Mine were old, so I didn’t really care about either three of those. But R.I.P. Higher Love. I wish it stayed much longer.

Nothing much happened this week except for 3 significant things.

1. Make You Mine is still jumping which is really weird. I know I say this every week, but it looks like it’s destined for the top 20.
2. Speaking of the top 20, Trampoline finally hit the top 20 for the first time ever this week. I hope it keeps jumping. ;)
3. Nice To Meet Ya is #1, which I guess is good.
