Hey, guys. So if you've been reading this blog for a while, you'd know that there was like two years straight where I was consistently getting all of my posts out on Saturday. And if you've been with me in recent months, you'd know that that hasn't been happening recently. I thought about this for a while, and I've realized that at the moment, my motivation and time just doesn't match with the quality and speed that you guys (and myself) have come to expect from me. So with that being said, I've come to the disappointing conclusion that this is the end of weekly posts. I've seen this coming for a while, but I wanted to keep this going for as long as I could. I've had so much fun doing this over the years, and I love connecting with you guys too. I honestly wouldn't trade any of it.
However, this isn't goodbye. I'll put up a tab or something where I'll post the Countdown every week, colour-coded and everything, so you guys can at least see my opinions on songs, but I won't be doing the full, week-by-week reviews. I might check in once a month or something to give you guys my thoughts on the charts, but we'll see when the time comes if I actually end up doing it.
One thing that I definitely want to do however (and I'll have more time to now), is bigger posts. Obviously, this will start with finally finishing up the Rankdown, and getting my best list of 2021 out for my three-year anniversary (mark that as a schedule so that I get it done, June 1st). As well as ultimately announce something I've been planning on doing for a while now on June 1st. After all that happens, I'll probably do some album reviews, maybe a couple more fun games and rankdowns, and I have a few concepts bouncing around that I've wanted to do for a while, but never had the time to with the weekly posts.
At the end of the day, I'm excited for this new chapter in my life, even if this is where my journey with you guys ends. I'll be focusing a lot more on songwriting now, which is really one of my passions, so if I ever make it, maybe you guys can get a face reveal (!).
So yeah. I guess that's it. Make sure you check out Waffle's blog if you haven't already, because he puts out some high-quality weekly posts, and he's actually been doing this for longer than I have. As always, it's linked in the sidebar, and it'll update whenever he posts.

Ever since I left that first comment here asking about the Hits 1 surveys it changed my life around, and the way I see the charts and music as a whole. I’m gonna really miss your weekly posts, but I understand it’s for the best. Good luck with songwriting though and I definitely am interested in seeing what you do with it. You’ve had a great journey here, and I’d like to thank you for the journey you’ve brought me on as my blog is 580 views away from hitting 10,000. This blog has changed my life. One last thing how do you do Hitbound/Abyss spin counts so that I can update everyone on those, since I finally got an AllAccess account?
DeleteOh yeah, ok so just run through AllAccess first, and note down the spins each Hit-Bound/Abyss song got in the past week, except remove nine spins for every song that got played in Hit-Bound in the past weekend. (17 for Countdown Extras. Goldn Hour plays five times, in case you ever need to do that) Then, once you've got all that move to the "most heard" in the past 7 days section of xmplaylist and finish the songs that weren't on AllAccess.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely we could use another person. If you need any advice I’m gonna give the same advice to you that Beluga gave to me when I started. Don’t let your writing put you down. It’s okay to have bad writing. I kinda realize that my writing isn’t perfect, but you’ll get better with it as time goes on. Don’t feel too preasured either, I’m in collage and I have the pressure on me all the time, but sometimes I get posts out a bit late. You don’t have to have them out on Saturday every week. It’s okay to have a later post sometime. As for the color coat I’d just use the one we all have been using, the only thing I don’t do that Beluga did was that I don’t use the Cyan or Yellow rankings because I realize that bad, horrible and mediocre are pretty much the same thing, so I just out bad songs in either Red or Orange. I hope this helps you in starting a blog, and I can’t wait to see if that happens.

DeleteOh yeah also I know this might be asking a lot, but it would mean a lot of someone could continue on Hunger Games Countdown. I've always held a special place in my heart for that one even if it never got too much attention.

DeleteOk so. I use the site linked below to randomize everything (but this one's a little tricky to figure out, you can just use a randomizer online). Basically, for however many songs left on the Countdown, that's how many songs are leaving the Hunger Games Countdown, and you just use the bottom songs from the previous countdown. Same goes for debuts, except you use the top songs from the previous Hunger Games Hit-Bound. Then, after you randomize the list, you just put it in Countdown form. Don't be scared to ask me if you have any questions.
