2020 Countdown Extras Rankdown (COMPLETE)

Hey guys! I figured since you're all waiting for my Year-End posts and the 2020 Ultimate Rank to start and I also realized that I had only actually done one rankdown... so here's another! There was a Countdown Extra for nearly every week this year, so I thought it would be funny to do a rankdown of the Countdown Extras. It's an extremely random list. There are Hit-Bound dropouts, small hits, big hits and a couple of random Jimmy Fallon songs.

If you're unaware of the rules for a rankdown, there's basically just two.

1. Rank the songs from worst to best, clearly numbering each song #51-#1.
2. Don't be a jerk, either ranking songs lower just for the heck of it. Rank them honestly.

Wow, I'm gonna be honest, I really didn't expect this to lose. Looking back, though, yeah, it's quite a bad song. Jimmy sounds terrible and the lyrics are just ridiculous. I find it funny how we gave this the bottom spot rather than a generally hated song.

We all lose bottom 10s except for me and Jackson loses his #51 and also gets a Perfect Ranking. Good job, man.

Haha this is second-last in this rankdown too. (For reference, it was second-last in Waffle's Hit-Bound Dropouts Rankdown) I honestly don't think that this song is that bad and I definitely wouldn't consider it Alec Benjamin's worst. But whatever, to each their own.

Yeah, so this is an opinion that I stand generally alone on, but I like this song. I definitely don't think it deserved to be this low, but if you do, that's fine.

Keaton, Jackson, Waffle and My Hits 1 all lose bottom 10s, with My Hits 1 being the third person to lose their #51 after Jackson and Waffle. This is also the first song with a pink ranking.

I don't really remember it too well, but it was definitely better than Idiot Boyfriend and it deserved to be higher than that (Also, I'm not sure Jimmy Fallon knows how a remix works).

My Hits 1, Jackson and Hunter all lose bottom 10s with Hunter losing his #51. Keaton and I are the only ones with our #51s left.

The first blue ranking pops up now and this time it's Hunter who loses it. Oof. Jackson, Waffle and I lose more bottom 10s, with Jackson and I getting Perfect Rankings.

Keaton is the first one to lose a top 10 song, losing his #3. Big oof. It must suck to lose one of your favourite songs so soon. Meanwhile, Jackson, Hunter, Waffle and I all lose bottom 10s.

Okay. Yup, that one hurts a little. I didn't expect this to do well per se, but I didn't expect it to do this badly. It has the highest standard deviation, which makes sense, since the rankings are kind of all over the place.

Hunter and My Hits 1 lose more of their bottom 10s and Jackson and I feel the pain of losing a top 10. At least I'm not alone on this one. Waffle and Hunter are the only ones who haven't lost a top 10 yet.

I genuinely forgot just how awful this was until I relistened to it for this, I just assumed it was “regular bad” based on what I could remember and my non-descript colour coding I used back then. This was absolutely terrible but at least it’s kind of in a funny way so that’s why I didn’t give it last place

  17. Mad At Disney: This is a really good little bop. The problem is that I completely forgot it existed or even debuted the countdown.
    Bad Child: Out of the 4 songs of hers I’ve heard, this one’s the best. I still can’t really call it great but it has a good chorus and solid production, whereas Dance Monkey only kinda had one of those. Also this one lowkey brings back memories because this was the extra on the last ever Top 45 countdown that I actually got to listen to a good chunk of.
    Be Happy: I still think I like this one more than the remix, although it has grown on me since they first replaced it. There’s a bit more to the production and Blackbear sounds good, although Lil Mosey kinda didn’t and shouldn’t have even been on there. Maybe if it weren’t for him I’d prefer the remix.
    Say So: NOOOO this one deserved top 10. This was my obsession around this time last year, I just could not get enough of it. Such a good song imo
    MAUG: Ah yes, the one with the stupidest countdown run possibly ever. Let me remind you all that it initially debuted pretty much exactly a year ago. Honestly I can finally say I think the song’s pretty good. Its 2nd countdown run (which was literally spent ENTIRELY within the top 10) didn’t exactly help it to grow on me until recently bc I was kinda sick of it by then lol

  21. WYKBL: Top 10 with no top 10s…alright! I guess that’s what having such a low SD with generally positive rankings will do
    Monsters: I keep forgetting they actually changed the production a bit in the Demi remix. That’s actually the big reason I think it’s better than the original, there’s more going on in Blackbear’s verse and overall it sounds a bit better. Although I won’t lie, even the original has kinda grown on me.
    Maniac: This one did not deserve top 10. The production’s not THAT good, guys.
    Take You Dancing and QOBH: Well I certainly did not expect either of these to end up this high. Guess I’m not complaining about it though
    Fallin: Decent song. Not good enough for the top 5 but not complaining it’s here.
    The Box: Banger. Probably my favourite rap hit of the year
    Good Thing: Zedd’s production isn’t amazing but the vocals are great and damn that key change works so well

    #teamkingsandqueens. Somehow I feel like we will prevail.

  22. Kings and Queens: Well I’ll be damned, I thought for sure this would've won at this point. I’m especially surprised it didn’t given that it has 2 #1s and Bitter has a solid 0. And it really should’ve, it’s absolutely incredible.
    Bitter: It’s a very good song from an artist whose music has seriously grown on me since I found out about her 2 years ago. So I guess I’m alright that this won.
