Last Year's #1: Someone You Loved - Lewis Capaldi [1/3 weeks at #1]

So after six weeks in On the Verge, which essentially only happens with country songs, ONE BEER by HARDY, Lauren Alaina and Devin Dawson makes its debut this week. This was a pretty good first impression (for me, at least) for all of these artists. They all sound pretty good, although I can't really tell the difference between HARDY and Devin Dawson's voices. Lauren Alaina sounds really good here, but I actually like her next song a lot more which I hope makes its debut soon, What Do You Think Of? with Lukas Graham. This song's actually quite interesting for being a slow country song and the writing's great. Yeah. Good song.

So this next song debuted a month or so ago in the 90-100 range, and it's back this week because of a remix. I'm talking about Nicki Minaj's remix of Sada Baby's Whole Lotta Choppas. The production in this song is actually quite cool. It's got a really cool vibe, sounding like something out of a Madonna song. However, Nicki Minaj's voice doesn't work very well with it. Sada Baby's voice is kind of uninteresting and overall, I don't think this is that interesting of a song. The production's good, but Nicki and Sada don't work very well with the song.

Justin Bieber's newest song from his upcoming album debuts at #14 next, Lonely with benny blanco. Or, apparently benny blanco's on this. He really doesn't have much of a presence. I feel like he could've just gotten a writing/producing credit like FINNEAS got on this. Justin Bieber actually sounds quite good in the verses here and although the production isn't that great, his voice really runs with it pretty well and the lyrics are honestly pretty hard-hitting. HOWEVER, he does not sound good in the chorus. It actually sounds like he's yodeling. I'm not even kidding. With the combination of that and the lack of production, it isn't great, but it could still grow on me at least somewhat.

Best Debut: ONE BEER - HARDY/Lauren Alaina/Devin Dawson

Biggest DROP!!!: FRANCHISE - Travis Scott/Young Thug/M.I.A. (-16): Yikes. This song isn't doing well at all, which sucks since I'm just kind of getting into it. Oh, well.

Biggest Jump: Said Sum - Moneybagg Yo (+10): Okay, really? Why did this have to jump to a new peak? Don't people realize that this isn't a good song?

you broke me first - Tate McRae (#58) [4]
Hawái - Malma (#59) [7]
Diamonds - Sam Smith (#60) [3]

Both songs from SAVAGE MODE II that stayed on the Top 40 last week dropped to On the Verge this week. Expected and I'm not really all that disappointed.

Our first On the Verge debut this week comes from Yung Bleu and Drake. It's You're Mines Still. Which grammatically, makes absolutely no sense. This is a pretty generic rap song. Yung Bleu's voice is kind of annoying, Drake sounds decent as he always does and the beat's nothing interesting and is actually kind of boring.

A couple country songs are next, the first one being Everywhere But On by Matt Stell. Meh. He sounds fine and the chorus is pretty solid but nothing about it is particularly interesting.

Luke Combs is next with probably the best song I've ever heard of his. It's Better Together. Of course, it's still not fantastic and it's a ballad, so it's not that interesting, but his voice is the best I've really ever heard in one of his songs. Yeah. Not much to say about this one.

Best Debut: You're Mines Still - Yung Bleu/Drake

I'm So Bluuuuuuuuuurby

The only other song that we lost off of the Top 40 this week was POPSTAR by DJ Khaled and Drake and I'm alright with that. It was never all that good, so I don't care that much that it's gone.

We lost a few On the Verge songs this week: Don't Stop by Megan Thee Stallion and Young Thug, 7 Summers by Morgan Wallen, Baby, I'm Jealous by Bebe Rexha and Doja Cat and Heather by Conan Gray. I'm glad that all of these songs are gone except for Baby, I'm Jealous, because that's a solid song.

The Woo actually jumped six spots this week, which is kind of weird considering it's getting a bit old.

Wonder dropped a bit this week. I never expected this to be as big of a hit as some of his other songs, so even though it's good, it's not one of his best, so I don't care that much.

Kings & Queens is actually becoming a decent-sized hit! :O

Dreams lost all of its spots from last week. I think it's good, so I don't really see a reason for it to drop. Honestly, it's just kind of amusing to watch this song's run.

Oh my gosh how is Circles still here? It's only about three weeks from breaking Radioactive's record of most weeks in the Top 40. It's at 60 WEEKS.

Hunh. Holy actually jumped back in the top 10. Ok then.

Mood held at #1 again this week which is great since it's great. This is probably its last week at #1, though, before positions by Ariana Grande gets at least two weeks at #1.

Hot 100 Exits from Past Top 40 Songs
If the World Was Ending - JP Saxe/Julia Michaels (#43) [#27] {29 weeks}
Cool Again - Kane Brown (#65) [#29] {20 weeks}
Rich N**** S*** - 21 Savage/Metro Boomin/Young Thug (#74) [#26] {2 weeks}
Slidin - 21 Savage/Metro Boomin (#88) [#32] {2 weeks}
Many Men - 21 Savage/Metro Boomin (#94) [#33] {2 weeks}

Expected from all of the SAVAGE MODE II songs, If the World Was Ending stayed for a bit too long and Cool Again should've been a bigger country hit.

Kwaheri, everybody! See you all tomorrow!
