Last Year's #1: Old Town Road (Remix) - Lil Nas X/Billy Ray Cyrus [17/19 weeks at #1]

We had a few re-entries this week, because of the Juice WRLD album bomb leaving: Sunday Best, Chasin' You, The Bigger Picture, The Woo, death bed and Bluebird. I'm happy Sunday Best, The Bigger Picture and The Woo are back, but sad that death bed and Bluebird are back.

Before I get into some DJ Khaled and Drake, we have a debut at #35, Die From A Broken Heart by Maddie & Tae. This has been pretty high in On the Verge recently, and if the album bombs didn't happen, it probably would've debuted a couple weeks ago. But anyways, this song isn't that good. Maddie and Tae's voices are fine and everything, and the writing's good, but it's a country ballad. Those never go very well. It's very boring, and there's not even close to enough production on it. I hope this song doesn't do that well. Country songs never do though, so I'm not too scared.

Our next debut, at #8, is the song from DJ Khaled and Drake that I didn't review for my Hits 1 post last week. GREECE is definitely better than POPSTAR. The production isn't as interesting, and the melody isn't as interesting either, but Drake sounds somewhat charismatic, which is already much better. I'm not sure if this is pitched weirdly or if he's just singing a little high, but his voice has this weird effect, and I'm not sure if I like it that much. But whatever, he at least sounds like he's interested in the song, so I'm not sad.

I reviewed POPSTAR by DJ Khaled and Drake last week, but I doubt it's gonna debut the Weekend Countdown soon, so I probably won't have to review it for a while after this. I still stand by everything I said before, but I think it's grown on me a little bit, because I realized the melody is actually really good, but Drake just delivers it terribly, with no charisma in his voice whatsoever. I also realized that his voice sounds super compressed. Don't ask me why.

Best Debut: GREECE - DJ Khaled/Drake

Biggest Drop: Conversations - Juice WRLD (-31): Yeah, this was definitely expected. I'm not disappointed whatsoever that the biggest drop is a Juice WRLD song.

Biggest Jump: Go Crazy - Chris Brown/Young Thug (+19): Um... wow. I really didn't expect this song to jump all the way up to #10, but I'm definitely happy, because I've been jamming to this a lot lately.

My Top 5 Picks
#5: The Woo - Pop Smoke/50 Cent/Roddy Ricch
#4: ROCKSTAR - DaBaby/Roddy Ricch

On the Verge
Rags2Riches - Rod Wave/ATR Son Son
Life's A Mess - Juice WRLD/Halsey (RE-ENTRY*)
Emotionally Scarred - Lil Baby
Said Sum - Moneybagg Yo (DEBUT)
Toosie Slide - Drake
Girls in the Hood - Megan Thee Stallion (RE-ENTRY)

I Love My Country - Florida Georgia Line (RE-ENTRY)
Got It On Me - Pop Smoke (RE-ENTRY*)

A few songs that left this week made it back to On the Verge. Life's A Mess, Blood On My Jeans and Righteous. I expect all of these to leave next week.

A few songs also came back to On the Verge after being below it last week: Girls in the Hood, Supalonely, Walk Em Down, If the World Was Ending, Got What I Got, I Love My Country and Got It On Me. I'm glad Girls in the Hood, Walk Em Down and Got It On Me are back, but it sucks that Supalonely and Got What I Got are back. I mean, seriously. Do they need to be hits?

For the actual new songs this week, we're kicking it off with Said Sum by Moneybagg Yo. I don't like this song. I don't really love Moneybagg Yo's voice, and his flow is alright, but everything about it feels like a generic rap song. I don't like the weird backup vocals throughout the song, they feel really weird, especially when you're wearing earbuds, because they only appear in one at a time. The production isn't that interesting either. This isn't horrible, but it's not good.

LOCASH come up next, with their new song, One Big Country Song. This isn't the worst country song ever, if I'm being honest. I don't like their voices all that much, but I think the melody and everything are just way too fun to hate. Not much else to say here.

Best On the Verge Debut: One Big Country Song - LOCASH

Momma Can You Die From a Broken Bluuuuuuurb?

We lost a bunch of songs from the Top 40 this week: Tell Me U Luv Me, Fighting Demons, Stay High, The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady, Bad Energy, Righteous, Titanic, Blood On My Jeans and Life's A Mess. I expected nothing more of all the Juice WRLD songs, but I hoped The Adventures would've stayed longer. Oh, well.

We also lost a few On the Verge songs this week: Up Up And Away, Screw Juice, I Want It, Can't Die and Man Of The Year. All of which are Juice WRLD songs.

The Box held on for a little longer. Hopefully, it doesn't leave too soon.

Life Is Good also made a huge comeback. Not happy, not sad either.

Why is Before You Go gaining momentuuuuuuuuuuuuuum? I really don't want this to stay on Hits 1 for much longer.

Both Break My Heart and I Hope are back up at their current peaks. I hope that they keep jumping.

Rain On Me made a huge comeback this week. Hopefully it can come back to the top 10 very soon.

Savage Love is at #12!!! I have a good feeling that this'll be a huge hit.

Come & Go is still in the top 10. I'm super surprised that it didn't drop more after the album lost most of its momentum. But very happy.

Taylor Swift will album bomb next week. See where cardigan lands, and where the rest of the tracks land on my post next week. Will ROCKSTAR hold on for an eighth week, or will WHATS POPPIN overtake it? Kwaheri, everybody. See you all soon.

Last Year’s #1: Who Do You Love - The Chainsmokers/5 Seconds of Summer [2/2 weeks at #1]

Countdown Extra: Be Like That - Kane Brown/Swae Lee/Khalid

So I just listened to Laxed - Siren Beat by Jawsh 685, and it’s actually a pretty solid song even without Jason Derulo. The siren thing just does the melody, and it works really well. But anyways, Jason Derulo’s remix of Laxed - Siren Beat, Savage Love debuts this week at #25. This is easily one of the most catchy songs of the year so far, and it debuted after only one week in Hit-Bound, so it definitely shows. Jason Derulo sounds fantastic, (as he always does) and the production is really really good. The last chorus is really good, with Jason sounding really good (except in the SAvage baBY that I mentioned last week), and yeah, I’m glad this is here, and I hope it does well.

Our next debut this week is my new favourite song on the Countdown, Come & Go by Juice WRLD and Marshmello, from Juice’s new album, Legends Never Die. Juice sounds really good in this, and it’s also one of the most catchy songs of the year so far. It debuted at #2 on the Hot 100, and I can definitely see it staying in the top 10 for a while. Even though Juice sounds really good here, the entire thing is fantastically brought together by one person: Marshmello. His production here is fantastic, especially in the drop, and this bests Be Kind in almost every way. Full credit here goes to Marshmello for bringing this all together, and it’s a fantastic tribute to Juice WRLD. I hope this is a huge hit.

So our next debut here was on the Voting Poll for one week, and skipped Hit-Bound entirely. It’s Zedd’s new single, with Jasmine Thompson, Funny. I talked about this last week, and my opinion still stands. It’s definitely one of Zedd’s best songs. Not exactly in the top tier of Zedd songs, but definitely not in the bottom tier. Jasmine was a really good vocalist to pick here, as she fits extremely well with the song. The production’s solid, although the ticking clock is still there, you can’t hear it that much. The drop’s pretty good, not great, but good, and the bridge is probably the best part of the production. My favourite part of this song though, is how it ends, with Jasmine saying: “Who’s laughing now?/Who’s laughing now?”. I don’t know why, but I think that was a perfect way to end the song.

Our final debut this week is Trevor Daniel’s second song on the Weekend Countdown, Past Life with Selena Gomez. This is so much better than Falling. Trevor sounds much better here than he did there, and the addition of Selena Gomez is alright, although I prefer the version without her. I really like it when the beat drops at the start of the second verse, and just flows into the chorus, which is really good. My one problem with this song is that you can really hear the edits that Selena made. For example, you can hear Trevor’s breaths sometimes when Selena starts singing, and you can really hear the choppy editing of Selena’s parts. But other than that, this is definitely a solid song.

Best Debut: Come & Go - Juice WRLD/Marshmello

Biggest DROP!!!: No Judgement - Niall Horan (-11): Geez, this took way too long to start dropping, especially considering it’s not a hit whatsoever. I mean, it got one week on the Hot 100 when it was released. Glad it’s finally on its way out.

Biggest Jump: Like That - Doja Cat/Gucci Mane (+9): Yay! This is for sure a welcome hit, and I wish it the best on all its future endeavours.

Before we get into new songs this week, we have the return of Heather by Conan Gray. I’m very happy that this only lasted a week, and I hope it doesn’t re-enter.

Another one. DJ KHALED!!! Yeah, I’m sad that I used that intro for this song, since it’s not that great. DJ Khaled decided to collaborate with Drake, in their new song POPSTAR. Yeah, that’s pretty much exactly like ROCKSTAR. DJ Khaled does pretty well in this song, and the production’s honestly super cool, and I like it a lot. But Drake brings this song down way too much. He sounds so anti-charismatic, that it makes you feel like he didn’t really want to do this song. But if he had more energy, this would’ve been a great song. Too bad he doesn’t.

…Two words. Dixie D’Amelio. You probably recognize that name, because she’s the sister of TikTok superstar, Charli D’Amelio. She comes in with her first song, (because I guess she’s doing music now) Be Happy. The thing is though, this song isn’t that bad. It’s actually extremely well-written, and it’s pretty catchy. She has a pretty good voice too, but my problem with this is that it feels super amateur. I get that she’s not that experienced, but it almost sounds like her mic wasn’t that great quality. The production’s also not that great. Those bring down the song a bit, but only to a blue, not to a red.

Our next song is ily (i love you baby) by Surf Mesa and Emilee. I actually quite like the vocals here, and I think Emilee does a really good job with that. Except Surf Mesa took like four lines and repeated them over and over again to make a song. It’s kind of like death bed, but it’s mixed much better than beabadoobee’s part in that. Mostly because there’s an actual drop and stuff, but I just don’t find the production to be good enough to redeem the sheer repetitiveness of it.

So our next song is Let There Be Love by Ananya… so this song isn’t actually out anywhere yet. It comes out July 31, so I can’t actually listen to it. So for that reason, I guess I’m reviewing this next week.

So Taylor Swift released a surprise album last Friday, a chill folk-ish album called folklore… yeah, this album isn’t for me. Her single from it is called cardigan, and it makes its debut here today. This is probably one of the better songs from the album, although it’s still not great in my opinion. I mean, it’s good, but I don’t love it, because it’s really not my style of music. It’s way too slow for me, and I find it kind of boring. But Taylor’s voice is still really good, which brings this up to a blue, rather than a low blue or a red. If you like this, that’s great, but it’s not for me.

Our last new song this week is the third Hits 1 song from blackbear. I’ve grown back into me & ur ghost, and hot girl bummer has always been a bop, but now he’s here with his third single, queen of broken hearts. This is probably the second-best single, better than me & ur ghost. The chorus is pretty good, and I still really like blackbear’s voice. But, I think the production lacks a bit. It could definitely be a bit better. But this is still good.

Best Hit-Bound Entrant: queen of broken hearts - blackbear

We actually lost three songs this week: Cruel Summer, Oh My God and Stuck with U. Cruel Summer was never a single, so I’m not all that disappointed, Stuck with U was losing traction anyways, so I’m also not upset, and Oh My God was old and never good, so I’m not upset.

Why did Roses drop again? What’s even the point of this huge hit dropping?

Blueberry Faygo is in the top 20 again, which is great!

Kings & Queens is somehow in the top 15… can’t say I’m disappointed, but I’m certainly surprised.

Three songs jumped seven spots this week: ROCKSTAR, I Hope and Moral of the Story. I’m super happy that both ROCKSTAR and I Hope are getting this high, but why the heck does Moral of the Story have to be in the top 10? I know. Niall Horan.

Savage is finally in the top 10, which is awesome, since the song is awesome.

Why is Before You Go back up at #6??? I mean, come on! I know that it’s gaining traction, but it’s been here for way too long.

Hot 100 Top 40: Week of July 25, 2020 - DaBaby/Roddy Ricch (6)

DaBaby/Roddy Ricch (6)

We got two posthumous album bombs from rappers in a row. Of course, last week's album bomb was from Pop Smoke, and this week's album bomb is from Juice WRLD, and all of the songs from Legends Never Die, (except for the intro, outro and interludes) show up in this post. Surprisingly, Juice didn't get the #1, and instead, it went to ROCKSTAR again. There were a couple songs that still managed to jump despite the album bomb, one of which is good, and one of which is bad. So enjoy the ridiculous amount of exits (13, to be exact)!

Last Year's #1: Old Town Road (Remix) - Lil Nas X/Billy Ray Cyrus [16/19 weeks at #1]

Let's get into some Juice WRLD this week! This first song was actually released prior to the album, except it debut the Hot 100 just one spot shy of the Top 40, so this is technically a debut. I'm talking about Tell Me U Luv Me with Trippie Redd. Probably my favourite part of this song is the beat. It's kind of rushed, but I like it. It gives a good speed to the song. The chorus is pretty good, and honestly, I think Trippie works better with the chorus than Juice. But Juice still sounds really solid here. His verse is pretty great, and Trippie Redd's verse is also really good. He comes with a great flow, and delivers honestly just a spectacular verse. This is good for sure.

This next song is called Fighting Demons. The piano in this song is nice, and it serves as a good indicator of what the album sounds like, as a lot of it is kind of slow. I love the chorus here, and the "take my hand/don't give up" part is really good. The lyrics are really well-written, and Juice did a very good job here. This is one of my favourites.

I really wanna like this next track, Stay High, but I can't, mostly for one reason. I'm not quite sure what's going on here. The chorus sounds like the pitch was messed with, making it just sound awkward. But I like the melody of the chorus, but I can't get behind it, because Juice just sounds so bad. The verses are alright, but they also sound kind of pitch-shifted. Also, I'd just like to note, in the clean versions of these songs, they do a weird reverse thing for what they have to censor, and it affects the beat, and it's pretty weird.

Before we get into more Juice WRLD, we actually get a break! Kid Cudi comes up with his newest single, The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady with (you probably guessed it) Eminem. This song is pretty good. Cudi sounds much better here than he did in THE SCOTTS, because he isn't doing that weird jaw thing that you could hear in THE SCOTTS, and I actually quite like his voice, and he delivers a nice verse. Then Eminem comes in, and it's just classic Eminem, which is to say fantastic. He starts kind of slowly, but it picks up a little. Good song.

Going back into Juice WRLD, in the top 20, we have Bad Energy. This song isn't too special, but it's still very solid. Juice sounds good, and the production's alright, but my favourite part about this song is the chorus. It's got a lot of harmonies, and it's a little slower, and I like it a lot. But yeah, other than that, I don't have much else to say about this.

So this next song was actually the first single from Legends Never Die, called Righteous. This is easily one of my favourites from the album. Juice sounds really good in the chorus, and it's pretty catchy too. The production's kind of chill, and I like it a lot. I'm a little sad that this didn't do that well while it was a single, because it's really good.

The next Juice WRLD song is called Titanic. This one's just meh. I don't really like the chorus all that much, and I really don't like when he says "TItanic, TIIItanic". The pre-chorus is easily the best part of this song, and I like the writing there. But yeah, I still can't hate this, and I don't, because it's Juice WRLD, and I love his voice.

This next Juice song is almost unlistenable with the clean version, because of the weird reverse thing that I talked about earlier. But anyways, Blood On My Jeans song start with a guitar, which is a very nice change. But then, the beat comes in, and it's honestly just a bad trap beat. I don't really like the backup vocal things (like him saying "yeah" and stuff like that), and his voice definitely isn't the best it's ever been. So yeah, this is also just mediocre.

We're getting into the Juice WRLD songs that hit the top 10 now, starting off with Hate The Other Side with Marshmello, The Kid LAROI and Polo G. This song is just a chorus by Juice with verses from LAROI and Polo G. But yeah, this is still extremely solid. The chorus is fantastic, with Juice sounding pretty great, and it also being pretty catchy. Polo's verse is really good, and he has pretty great flow. LAROI's verse is... interesting, to say the least, but it doesn't really bring the song down that much, I just don't really like his voice. But Marshmello's production is really good, and honestly just brings this entire song together. Good song.

So, this next song was released as a promotional single, so actually debuted the Hot 100 last week. It's Life's A Mess by Juice and Halsey. This is pretty good. I think both artists have had much better, but the chorus and production are still really good. It's a little slow, which I don't love, but it's fine. Juice's verses are great, and Halsey's verse is also pretty good, although I wished she had a bit more of a presence in the song, rather than just appearing in the second chorus and giving a verse, but whatever. Still good.

The highest non-single comes up next, called Conversations. This is only alright, which is a shame, because I feel like Hate The Other Side or Life's A Mess could've taken this top 5 spot. Whatever, this isn't bad, it's just a little uninteresting, and there's not much to talk about. The production's kind of cool, but the melody here is just kind of boring. Next.

So these next two songs, I actually reviewed last week on my Hits 1 post, since both of them were picked up by Hits 1. The first one is called Wishing Well. This is actually a really good song, which I've learned by listening to the rest of the album, I was just comparing it to Come & Go earlier. The piano line is fantastic, and the chorus is actually quite catchy, but the best part is the pre-chorus, since the melody and the guitar just fit so well together. This hasn't actually been released as a single yet, but it will be in a couple weeks. So I hope it does well on the Countdown and here.

I'm probably gonna end up talking about this tomorrow, because it's definitely gonna debut the Weekend Countdown. So I'll keep this short. Come & Go is nothing short of a masterpiece. Marshmello's production is absolutely on point, Juice sounds really really good, and the song is incredibly catchy. Fantastic song, I could definitely see it hitting #1 on the Hot 100 in the next coming weeks.

Best Entrant: Come & Go - Juice WRLD/Marshmello

Biggest Drop: For The Night - Pop Smoke/Lil Baby/DaBaby (-26): Yeah, I wouldn't say I'm surprised. I honestly don't care that much, I liked The Woo much better anyways.

Biggest Jump: Party Girl - StaySolidRocky (+11): Does this really have to become a hit? I'd much rather prefer if it didn't. Rocky's voice isn't good, and the song as a whole is just really bad.

Rags2Riches - Rod Wave/ATR Son Son (DEBUT)
Die From A Broken Heart - Maddie & Tae
Toosie Slide - Drake (RE-ENTRY*)
Emotionally Scarred - Lil Baby

Before we start more Juice WRLD, there are some songs that left the Top 40, but stayed in On the Verge. death bed, The Bigger Picture, Bluebird, Sunday Best, The Woo, Chasin' You and Toosie Slide. I'm happy death bed and Bluebird left, although they'll probably be back next week, when everything's normal. I'm sad Sunday Best and The Woo are gone, but again, they'll probably be back next week, and everything else, I don't really care about.

Our first On the Verge Juice WRLD song is titled Up Up And Away. I really like the production in this song. It's nice and chill, and it's actually quite calming. I mean, even the beat is quite calming. Juice's voice is a little jumpy, which is probably what stops it from being one of my favourites (and I use that word loosely), but this is still a very very good song.

The next one is called Screw Juice. This is okay. I can tell why this and the next one didn't make the Top 40. Both of them are kind of uninteresting, and Juice's voice in this song has a weird vocal effect on it, and I don't really like the sound of it. The verses and chorus are alright, but it doesn't redeem this that well.

The next mediocre song is called I Want It. This is probably the most forgettable of song from this album. Like seriously, I can never remember what it sounds like, but I can always get a pretty good idea of what the others sound like at this point. Yeah, this is just boring and forgettable. Next.

This next song is probably the best writing on the whole album. I'm talking about Can't Die, and you should look up the lyrics. The verses are only okay, but the chorus and the lyrics more than make up for it. Yeah. Solid song.

So the lowest song from Legends Never Die is here, and it's called Man Of The Year, and it's not that good. He's singing in a range that's honestly not that great with his voice. Either that, or his voice was just pitched weirdly. Yeah, I don't know, and frankly, I don't care. The production's pretty good though, but I can't appreciate it because of his voice.

The very last song this week isn't actually by Juice WRLD. It's Rags2Riches by Rod Wave and ATR Son Son. This song is honestly pretty good. The beat is pretty solid, and ATR Son Son does pretty well on the production. Rod Wave actually sounds pretty good here, and the chorus is honestly pretty great, even though it's just one phrase repeated over and over again. My only problem with this is that this song is pretty short.

This Type of Blurbs Don't Always Come and Go

There are a few songs that left that didn't make it back to On the Verge: High Fashion, 44 BullDog, Gangstas, Aim For The Moon, Got It On Me and Dior. I expected this from all of the Pop Smoke songs, but High Fashion NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! That's legit one of my favourite songs now, although I do realize that it's kind of old. Ah, well. Good things must come to an end.

We lost a few On the Verge songs too: Something Special, Yea Yea, Mood Swings, Stuck with U, Supalonely, Walk Em Down, Make It Rain, Be Kind, Girls in the Hood, What You Know Bout Love, THE SCOTTS, Snitching and Bad B**** From Tokyo. Again, I expected this from all the Pop Smoke songs, but I'm sad that Walk Em Down, Be Kind and THE SCOTTS left. I'm happy that Supalonely left though.

The Box dropped down to #40... it's been real.

Hard To Forget and The Bones also took huge drops, which sucks, because those are actually country songs that I like.

Why the heck did Rain On Me drop 12 spots? I mean, come on! Why can't this just be a hit?

Don't Start Now and We Paid also dropped 12 spots. I'm happy that both of them dropped, but for Don't Start Now, mostly just because it was old.

So somehow, despite the album bomb, Savage Love still managed to jump up 10 spots into the top 20. This bodes extremely well for how this song is gonna do.

ROCKSTAR somehow still holds at #1. I would've prefered Come & Go at #1, but I still really like ROCKSTAR too.

Next week will be a normal week before we get a Taylor Swift album bomb, so be excited for that. Kwaheri, and see you all soon.

Countdown Extra: Breaking Me - Topic/A7S

17 re-entered the Countdown this week. Honestly, I’m happy. This song is extremely close to being green, the only thing that’s holding it back is that it’s a little boring. But yeah, I’m happy this is here again.

Our first actual debut this week is my new least favourite song on the Countdown, and honestly, if Daisies didn’t leave this week, I think it still might’ve been my least favourite. It’s Conan Gray’s new single, Heather. That’s right, the same guy that did Maniac is doing a ballad. Which is probably the main reason I don’t like this. His voice really doesn’t fit with the song. Like at all. He’s much more suited for the upbeat stuff. The production’s a bit boring, but honestly, on the more interesting side of ballad production. That’s not a huge issue with this song. The lyrics are also really weird. The line: “You gave her your sweater/It’s just polyester” is really weird. I mean, why does it matter that it’s polyester? I seriously think he was just trying to rhyme with the word sweater. The vocal effects on his voice are also really odd. There’s a lot of unnecessary heavy reverb, and when he yells “I wish I were Heather”, I don’t know what’s going on. Don’t even get me started on the storyline of this though. I’ve narrowed it down to either the person he was dating was bisexual, or he’s gay, and this is way of coming out. Take your pick. But yeah, this shouldn’t be here.

Our highest debut, after a really long time in Hit-Bound is 100 Ways by Jackson Wang. I also don’t like this, except it’s definitely one of the better bad songs here… if that makes sense. I’m honestly quite surprised Jackson Wang landed a second song on the Countdown, since he’s a solo k-pop artist. The song’s catchy enough and everything, and the production’s alright, but his voice is really odd, and I kind of can’t stand it. I get that it’s mostly just his accent, but that’s also one of the reasons that I don’t like k-pop. I’m a little upset that this wasn’t a Hit-Bound dropout, as I’m pretty sure everyone thought it would be, but I’m kind of indifferent about it being here.

Best Entrant: 17 - Pink Sweat$

Best Debut: 100 Ways - Jackson Wang

Biggest DROP!!!: The Bones - Maren Morris (-8): Oh boy. This song just needs to make up its mind on whether it wants to be a hit here or not, because all of this dropping and jumping is ridiculous. That being said, I like the song, so I’d much rather have it jump.

Biggest Jump: ROCKSTAR - DaBaby/Roddy Ricch (+7): Luckily, this song jumped back up from the bottom 5. I’m super happy, because this song is great. It’s #1 on the Hot 100, so I’m sad it didn’t jump higher, but hopefully it’ll keep jumping in the coming weeks.

*indicates one week spent on the Voting Poll, rather than Hit-Bound

Before we get to the debuts, Daisies re-entered. I’m happy it left, but really sad that it’s back.

How is it possible that I like all six of the Hit-Bound/Voting Poll entrants this week? Anyways, this first one is probably one of my least favourites, which is to say really good. It’s called Be Like That by Kane Brown, Swae Lee and Khalid. So Kane Brown actually makes his second Hits 1 appearance with this, and I actually don’t mind his music, because it sounds more like pop than country. This is definitely no exception. The chorus is pretty catchy, with the main hook line being: “Sometimes it be like that”, and I completely agree. Sometimes it do be like that. Swae Lee also makes his second Hits 1 appearance, although he should’ve been on Close To Me. He also does a pretty good job here. I like his voice, and it’s not different here. Khalid also fits really well with the song. His soulful voice somehow works well with Kane Brown’s country voice, and Swae Lee’s somewhat unprofessional voice. Don’t ask me how.

Next up, we have a song that I’ve been recommending for a while now, and I’ve reviewed it a couple times on my weekly Hot 100 posts, so if you haven’t been reading those, maybe it’s time to catch up. Jawsh 685’s Laxed - Siren Beat makes an appearance on Hit-Bound here, in the form of Savage Love with Jason Derulo. Yes, I’m also surprised this isn’t purple. I’ll explain later. So basically, Jason Derulo just put lyrics to an existing instrumental TikTok song, and it made this masterpiece. Jason Derulo always sounds good, and it really shows here. I think he sings slightly too high for his voice in the chorus, but it’s not too much. Laxed - Siren Beat (the production) is really good, and I quite like the horns in the chorus. They add a nice flair to the song. This is an extremely catchy song (what did you expect? It’s Jason Derulo), but my only complaint would be that in the last chorus, Jason screams “SAvage, baBY”, and I really don’t like that, but other than that, this is a really good song.

Our first Voting Poll song is the song that stole the purple from Savage Love, and surprisingly the first of two Juice WRLD songs from his new album, Legends Never Die. It’s called Come & Go, and Marshmello put it all together. I listened to this entire album, and I really liked it, but this is hands-down the best track on the album. (If you want an album review, just wait for my Hot 100 post this weekend) I think Marshmello put this together really well, considering he just had to work with what Juice recorded before he passed. It doesn’t sound too choppy, which I greatly appreciate, but that could also be because they pre-recorded this together. Either way, it’s very good. I miss Juice a ton, and this song is a huge proof why. His voice is awesome, and it fits well with anything that he does. But I give a lot of credit here to Marshmello, who put together an awesome instrumental, with a literal jaw-dropping drop (see what I did there?). I really hope this does well as a single, and maybe since it’s the newest single, it could hit #1 on the Hot 100, or at least pretty high. Oh also, fun fact, if you listen to the beginning of this song, you hear someone saying: “Mello made it right”. That right there, my friends, is none other than Roddy Ricch. Which just makes this song a million times better than it already is, because in case you didn’t know, Roddy Ricch is one of my favourite artists right now.

The next Juice WRLD song isn’t as good, but it’s still definitely solid. Wishing Well seems to be the better-performing single, as it seems to be outperforming Come & Go on Spotify. This song feels a little more choppy than the last song, but it’s still good. Juice sounds good again, and the beat is pretty well made. I like the piano line, it’s actually pretty interesting to listen to. I don’t love the verses, but again, they’re still really solid, I’m just comparing this to Come & Go. I like the chorus, it’s pretty catchy, and I like the lyrics here, and they speak really well to Juice’s story. He says at one point: “If it wasn't for the pills, I wouldn't be here/But if I keep taking these pills, I won't be here”, which is a super sad line, considering how he left this earth. But yeah, this whole album was a good tribute to Juice WRLD.

So, I reviewed this next song and it’s remix. I’m not certain which version is here, but I’m gonna review the original for now. I’m talking about WHATS POPPIN by Jack Harlow. This is definitely one of the best rap hits this year so far, and I’m super happy that Hits 1 is picking up more rap, because this deserves to be here. Jack has some pretty good flow throughout the song, and the chorus is also really good. The piano in the song actually fits really well, and I don’t get too tired of listening to it over and over again (since it never changes). So yeah, this is good.

And finally, we have a new Zedd song, with Jasmine Thompson, called Funny. This is definitely one of the better Zedd songs. Not quite on the same level as Break Free or Good Thing, but very close. It’s definitely not mediocre/bad like Happy Now or The Middle. The clock still hasn’t gone away, but it’s less noticeable here. The drop of this song really sounds like Stay, with the huge synth hits, and the robotic harmonies. I think Zedd picked a really good vocalist. Jasmine Thompson sounds really good here, and I like her accent. This song isn’t too catchy, but hey. I still like it. Good song.

There Are 100 Blurbs to Leave a Lover

We lost two actual exits this week: Level of Concern and X. Both songs are good, but I’m more upset about X. It deserved to be a much bigger hit.

We lost one Hit-Bound song this week, Man. This song was extremely forgettable, and also not very good, so I’m happy.

It looks like Heartless is gonna leave soon. I’m sad, but it’s dropping on pop radio, so it makes sense.

Okay, fine. I like Like That. It grew on me quite a bit. It’s pretty catchy, and I much prefer it to Say So.

Control is still not doing too well despite getting a ton of airplay, but I think it’s just a Hits 1s to Watch thing, where they push the song to death, despite how well it’s doing on the Countdown.

I’m glad death bed dropped again. Now if it could just leave, that would be great.

Roses is finally in the top 20!!! This definitely needs to be a hit here, because it’s a huge hit everywhere else.

Moral of the Story doesn’t deserve to be in the top 15. It’s only here because of Niall Horan, which is always a stupid reason for a song to be jumping despite it not being a hit.

Stuck with U is somehow in the top 10? It’s starting to drop on the charts, I have no clue why it’s jumping.

Rain. On. Me. (It’s in the top 5!!!)

I like Watermelon Sugar again, because I’ve just accepted that it’s a hit.
