2021 Hit-Bound Dropouts Rankdown (COMPLETE)

Well, hello there, everybody! Welcome to the 2021 Hit-Bound Dropouts Rankdown! Today, (and over the next couple months) we'll be taking all of the Hit-Bound dropouts this year and collectively ranking them! In case you're unaware of what a Hit-Bound dropout is, it's a song that makes it onto the new music show, Hit-Bound, but never manages to debut on the Weekend Countdown. In a typical year, we'd have around 20 dropouts, and last year we had a lot more, with 46... this year, we have *chuckles* 107. So yeah, this is the biggest rankdown we've ever done here. That's the Hit-Bound dropouts of 2018, 2019 and 2020's combined, then 19 more. If this is your first rankdown, here are the rules.

1. Rank the songs from worst to best, with #107 being your least favourite, and #1 being your favourite.

2. Don't be a jerk, either by responding multiple times, or by purposefully ranking songs lower or higher to sabotage their performance, even if that's not how you feel about them.

Yeah, so two things real quick: 1. When you're submitting, don't stress too much about exactly where you put the songs. In the end, the songs you like, you will have still ranked high, and the songs you dislike, you will have still ranked low. 2. If any of these songs re-enters Hit-Bound or debuts the Countdown between now and when I start reveals, they'll be removed from the Rankdown to try and control numbers. This will be indicated with a strikethrough. If this happens, don't worry about fixing your list, I'll just remove the song(s) from your pre-existing list.

THIS RANKDOWN DOES NOT RUN THROUGH THE CALENDAR YEAR.

This means that the list above is all the dropouts from the start of December 2020 to the end of November 2021. All dropouts for December 2021 will be saved for next year.

Woah. Well, I definitely didn't expect someone to lose a top 5 that quickly. Geez. Anyways, this song definitely grew on me since it dropped out, but I can definitely see why some people wouldn't like it. Giveon's voice is very strange, and there's not much production to back it up in this one.

Hunter, Fan, Salad, Dom, Hippo, My Hits 1 and Waffle all lose bottom 10 songs, with the latter four losing their #104, and getting Perfect Rankings. Trey, unfortunately, already loses a top 5 song. Sorry, man. This also just so happens to be the song that got the closest to debuting the Weekend Countdown, as in, it got the most spins outside of Hit-Bound of any song.

I used to think this song was decent, but I realize now that it's a very boring song with some underwhelming vocals. On the plus side, the melody's good, but it's way too forgettable for me to place much higher than that.

The melodies in this song are nothing short of amazing, and Maren Morris has just the right amount of non-presence here to keep me interested in the song. The only problem is that the production feels so empty, like it's missing so much that would've made this a pretty great song. Am I happy that this was replaced by Mr. Perfectly Fine? Uh... sure, I guess.

You have got to be kidding me. How the hell did this song last so long?? The fact that this lasted longer than my #1, Lemonade, which is an amazing song, baffles me. Seriously, I don't even get the appeal of this song. How can that pitched voice make the song an enjoyable listen? And other than that, the song isn't even that interesting. This was not deserving of the #19 spot, and not deserving of three #1 rankings (but like, to each their own, I guess).

Hippo, SuzukiGaming and Trey all lose their #1s, and Scott loses his #2. I lose my #104, being the last to do so. SuzukiGaming is now the first participant to lose their entire top 10. Oof. At least we're in the top 20, I guess?

Not gonna lie, I expected this one to reach top 10 at least, if not top 5. It's still in the top 15, so I guess I can't really complain, but it's such a great song it deserves every spot it gets. This was a great introduction to Mimi Webb, and I think it still stands as her best single.

I genuinely expected this to do a lot worse, but looking at it, without me and Scott, this could've easily been top three. The song's just so stupid, I don't get it. I kinda see how you could ironically like this, but it's just way too ridiculous for me to get any kind of enjoyment from listening to it.
