Last Year's #1: Truth Hurts - Lizzo [1/7 weeks at #1]

We actually got quite a few On the Verge vets this week, starting off with I Love My Country by Florida Georgia Line. Although I don't love FGL's voices, the chorus is actually decent, and the instrumentation there's pretty good. But their voices still bring it down to a blue.

Somehow, If the World Was Ending by JP Saxe and Julia Michaels debuts this week at #34. I honestly thought that this song was losing traction, but I guess I was wrong. Anyways, I've almost grown back in to this song, but not quite yet. I actually don't mind JP Saxe's voice, Julia Michaels' voice is good, and the writing's really good. So yeah, I'm actually not too disappointed that this is here.

Next up is a bad country song, Got What I Got by Jason Aldean. I'm not sure whose idea it was to do a country ballad, but it was a horrible idea. The production's extremely uninteresting, his voice isn't that great, and the song gets really boring at many points.

This song isn't an On the Verge, vet, and neither is the next one, but both are pretty bad. This is Tap In by Saweetie, and I find Saweetie's voice super annoying in this song. The production's fine, I guess, but the chorus is super annoying. Overall, this just isn't good. I hope they switch to the remix with Post Malone, DaBaby and Jack Harlow for next week.

I talked about this next song last week, so I don't really feel the need to this week. Lovin' On You by Luke Combs debuts next. It's an annoying country song with bad vocals and mediocre production. NEXT!!

Our brand new #1 debut comes up next, Dynamite by BTS. Okay, I may or may not have really grown in to the song. A lot. It's super groovy, they all actually sound pretty good, and it's way too catchy. I'll review it in more depth tomorrow. But yeah, I'm happy that it's #1.

Best Debut: Dynamite - BTS

Biggest Drop: 7 Summers - Morgan Wallen (-32): I'm happy that this dropped this much after its way-too high debut last week.

Biggest Jump: Mood - 24kGoldn/iann dior (+14): Woah. This may actually be a huge hit. I sure hope it is.

My Top 5 Picks
#5: Go Crazy - Chris Brown/Young Thug

My Favourite Song Lower Down: Bang! - AJR (#64)

On the Verge
Midnight Sky - Miley Cyrus (RE-ENTRY*)
Girls in the Hood - Megan Thee Stallion
One Of Them Girls - Lee Brice
Nobody's Love - Maroon 5
Heather - Conan Gray (DEBUT)
Be A Light - Thomas Rhett/Reba McEntire/Hillary Scott/Chris Tomlin/Keith Urban (DEBUT)
Smile - Juice WRLD/The Weeknd (RE-ENTRY*)
Like That - Doja Cat/Gucci Mane (RE-ENTRY)
my future - Billie Eilish
Said Sum - Moneybagg Yo (RE-ENTRY)
I Should Probably Go To Bed - Dan + Shay (RE-ENTRY)
Why We Drink - Justin Moore
I Called Mama - Tim McGraw (DEBUT)
GREECE - DJ Khaled/Drake (RE-ENTRY)
24 - Money Man/Lil Baby (DEBUT)

So I switched up the algorithm for On the Verge a bit, and instead of it being just #41-#55, it's now the highest-placing new songs. So any song that spent more than four weeks in the Top 40 can't be On the Verge anymore.

Two songs that left this week came back to On the Verge this week: Midnight Sky and Smile. I honestly don't really care that either of these are gone, so whatever.

Also a few songs re-entered On the Verge from lower down this week, Like That, Said Sum, I Should Probably Go To Bed and GREECE. Happy Like That and ISPGTB are back.

Somehow, Conan Gray's newest single, Heather debuts On the Verge. I'm not sure how this beat out Maniac as his big single, and I'm really disappointed that it did. Conan really doesn't sound good, and the song is incredibly boring. The production's extremely uninteresting, and the lyrics are just straight-up confusing. I'm not even gonna go into detail, because it would take way too long. Look it up if you're curious.

Next is Be A Light by a lot of artists, but mostly Thomas Rhett. The writing here is fantastic, and the production and stuff is really good. But the main highlight here is everyone's voice. Somehow, literally everybody sounds good here. I'm not even sure how that's possible with so many people, and especially country artists. But yeah, I hope this is a pretty big hit, since everyone here's great.

Next is yet another country song, I Called Mama by Tim McGraw. This song's another ballad, but it's not as bad as Got What I Got. McGraw doesn't sound horrible, but it's still extremely boring. Next.

Next is 24 by Money Man and Lil Baby. This is pretty much one of the only times Lil Baby actually sounds good. Money Man sounds pretty good, and and I think both artists' verses are pretty good. The production's good, and I really like the guitar in the background. So yeah, good song.

Best Debut: Be A Light - Thomas Rhett/Reba McEntire/Hillary Scott/Chris Tomlin/Keith Urban

I Love My Blurb-y

Other than Midnight Sky and Smile, we lost Party Girl, We Paid, Intentions and Chasin' You. I'm happy we lost Party Girl and We Paid, and not too disappointed about Intentions (because it was old) and not too disappointed about Chasin' You.

Be Like That jumped quite a bit this week.

The Woo's getting pretty close to the top 20, and I really hope it gets there, because it's a great song.

Before You Go's back in the top 10. Whatever, I don't care all that much.

Hot 100 Exits from Past Top 40 Songs
Emotionally Scarred - Lil Baby (#45) [#31] {25 weeks}
Bluebird - Miranda Lambert (#64) [#26] {20 weeks}
Toosie Slide - Drake (#72) [1 week at #1] {20 weeks}
Conversations - Juice WRLD (#91) [#7] {6 weeks}
Righteous - Juice WRLD (#96) [#11] {16 weeks}

Other than the still continued fallout of Legends Never Die, we lost Emotionally Scarred, Bluebird and Toosie Slide. Honestly, I don't care that any of these are gone.

Kwaheri, everybody! See you all tomorrow!

    2. Actually, it is his opinions. Check what colour-coding he did for those two songs.

    3. Was responding to Tyler. What he said was honestly completely pointless because he was asking for our opinions rather than someone to repeat his own.

  2. Okay guys, here's what I think about the Hits 1 to Watch:

    Mood - 24kGoldn/iann dior

    Yeah, I know it's a stretch, but think about it. Both Goldn and iann dior are up and coming artists, it's been around sixth or seventh in airplay. The only things that don't really make sense are that it's already a hit, and it's already on the Countdown. But that's just my guess.

    Also, queen of broken hearts is being played a lot, so it may debut next week even though it's off of the poll.
