Last Year's #1: Truth Hurts - Lizzo [4/7 weeks at #1]

In case you didn't notice, I switched the colour-coding on this too, and the lowest debut comes in with a yellow. It's More Than My Hometown by Morgan Wallen. Morgan Wallen's had probably too many songs on the Top 40 this week. He's not that great. This song is for sure more interesting than 7 Summers, which I'm glad has lost all traction, but he really doesn't sound good. Even though I said this is more interesting than 7 Summers, by no means does that mean this is interesting. It's still really boring and super forgettable. I hope this isn't a hit.

Marshmello and Demi Lovato come in next at #36 with their newest song, OK Not To Be OK. This is a pretty good song. It's a mental health awareness song, and I think they lyrically tackled this really well. Production-wise, it's alright. It's slightly uninteresting, but for the most part, it's a good song. Demi Lovato sounds good here, and nothing about it is bad, I just think Marshmello could've done a better job here.

So YoungBoy Never Broke Again released his album, Top, and three songs from it charted today. The highest one is My Window featuring Lil Wayne. It's okay. YoungBoy kind of sounds like Lil Baby, which is to say, not great, but it's alright, he doesn't sound terrible. Most of the song's pretty forgettable, and none of it really sticks out for me. Lil Wayne doesn't sound that good though. I mean... does he ever?

Best Debut: OK Not To Be OK - Marshmello/Demi Lovato

Biggest Drop: Savage (Remix) - Megan Thee Stallion/Beyoncé (-8): Wow, I didn't think that this would leave so soon. It's fine. It got a little old.

Biggest Jump: Lemonade - Internet Money/Gunna/Don Toliver/NAV (+16): Aaayyyy. I've really grown into this song, and I'm super happy it's getting some success.

My Top 5 Picks

YoungBoy comes back with another song from Top, Drug Addiction. This song's pretty good. He sounds a lot less like Lil Baby here, and the beat's much more interesting. The chorus is alright. Yeah, not much else to say.

This next YoungBoy song has been on the Hot 100 for a while now, Kacey Talk. Again, this is just kind of boring, and there's not much to comment on here. His voice isn't that interesting either. Overall, it's alright, but there's really nothing to talk about.

Finally Ava Max's single from her new album, Heaven & Hell, Kings & Queens debuts On the Verge this week, at #57. Ava sounds fantastic here, the layering in the chorus is super well done, and the lyrics are amazing. It's also super catchy. I sincerely hope that this dethrones Moral of the Story on the Weekend Countdown next week.

Said Sum re-entered this week. I don't like this, so I'm not too happy.

I apologize for the lack of On the Verge reviewing this week. The next song is Some Girls by Jameson Rodgers. This is pretty much just your average country song. It's not great, it's not terrible, his voice is mildly annoying, and most of it is pretty annoying.

Best Debut: Kings & Queens - Ava Max

I Can't Love You More Than My Blurb-town

We lost a few Top 40 songs this week, Say So, death bed and Hit Different. Both Say So and death bed should've left for good a long time ago, and I'm really upset that Say So re-entered last week. But, they're both gone now. As for Hit Different, I seriously don't care that it only lasted one week.

We also lost some On the Verge songs: Nobody's Love, The Voice, Do It and Relación. Don't care that any of these songs left.

Die From A Broken Heart dropped quite a bit this week, which is great.

Tap In dropped out of the top 20! Hopefully, it doesn't re-enter the top 20.

One Of Them Girls actually debuted the top 20 this week! Super happy that this is jumping!

Blinding Lights just broke the record for most weeks in the top 5, and I'm SO HAPPY that it did, since it totally deserved it!

Hot 100 Exits from Past Top 40 Songs
death bed (coffee for your head) - Powfu/beabadoobee (#39) [#23] {26 weeks}
Intentions - Justin Bieber/Quavo (#48) [#5] {31 weeks}
Party Girl - StaySolidRocky (#61) [#21] {20 weeks}
my future - Billie Eilish (#90) [#6] {6 weeks}
Stuck with U - Ariana Grande/Justin Bieber (#100) [1 week at #1] {18 weeks}

Honestly, I'm fine that all of these songs left. I'm particularly happy about death bed, my future and Party Girl though. As for the two Justin Bieber songs, they were both old, so whatever.

Kwaheri, everybody! See you all soon.
