Ariana Grande (1)
Hey guys, welcome to yet another Hot 100 post! Callout Scores is still open if anybody wants to do that, I'll probably reveal the results next Wednesday, so if you want to do it, DO IT BY THEN. Here's the link for that post. As for this week in the charts, we had an extremely non-surprising #1, but a very surprising #2. Also, Lemonade jumped again, so it can't possibly be a bad week.

Last Year's #1: Lose You To Love Me - Selena Gomez [1/1 week at #1]

Most of the debuts this week are country songs, so why not kick everything off with a decent one? It's Love You Like I Used To by Russell Dickerson. Russell's voice is great by country singer's standards. The chorus is also just extremely catchy. Yeah. Not too much else to say about this song.

Jack Harlow brings is long-awaited (by me, at least) follow-up to WHATS POPPIN this week, called Tyler Herro. Do I think this is better than WHATS POPPIN? Uh, no not really. This is still a really solid song though. Jack's flow is impeccable as always and the beat's good. The thing that sounds like a sample from The Legend of Zelda sounds really cool and definitely works with the song. The chorus definitely doesn't stand out that much and I honestly didn't even realize what it was the first time I heard it. Good song though. Everything about it is pretty good.

So Luke Combs released an album this week. However, I don't think this first song from him is from that album. So it might just be here because it was gaining, but I guess we'll see if it drops hard next week or not. Anyways, I reviewed this song last week, it's Better Together. This is definitely one of the best vocal performances from Luke Combs that I've ever heard. I still don't love his voice though, but it definitely sounds better here than it did in Lovin' On You or Beer Never Broke My Heart. This song can get a little boring at parts, but overall, it's definitely solid.

So I'm not exactly sure if Luke Combs just really played the charts this week or if this next song is actually gonna be a big hit. Because the lead single from his album What You See Ain't Always What You Get, Forever After All debuts at #2 this week. Yeah, that's a record, folks. The highest debut ever for a male country artist. So overall, I think this and Better Together are tied. This song isn't quite as boring as Better Together, but his voice sounds a bit worse in the chorus than in that song. The production actually evolves though. Yeah, I'm honestly not sure which song is better. I definitely think that this deserved to debut this high, unlike 7 Summers.

So let's talk about Ariana Grande for a second. Her new album Positions will impact next week, but since the title track and lead single (positions, in case you didn't get that) was released a week earlier, so it makes its debut at #1 this week. From what I've heard from the album (since I still haven't listened to the entire thing) this is easily the best track. It's pretty interesting and definitely pretty catchy. Ariana sounds great as she does most of the time. Yeah, I'm glad and definitely not surprised that this is #1.

Best Debut: positions - Ariana Grande

Biggest DROP!!!: Lonely - Justin Bieber/benny blanco (-13): Yeah, I expected this to drop, although I'm low-key surprised that it's still on the Top 40.

Biggest Jump: Said Sum - Moneybagg Yo (+6): Really? Have people seriously not realized that this isn't good?

My Top 5 Picks
#5: The Woo - Pop Smoke/50 Cent/Roddy Ricch
#4: Bang! - AJR
#3: Mood - 24kGoldn/iann dior

On the Verge
Levitating - Dua Lipa/DaBaby (#42) [3]
Pretty Heart - Parker McCollum (#43) [5]
Some Girls - Jameson Rodgers (#45) [1; 2nd time]
Happy Anywhere - Blake Shelton/Gwen Stefani (#46) [6]
Everywhere But On - Matt Stell (#48) [2]
Mr. Right Now - 21 Savage/Metro Boomin/Drake (#49) [2; 2nd time*]
I Should Probably Go To Bed - Dan + Shay (#50) [11]
FRANCHISE - Travis Scott/Young Thug/M.I.A. (#51) [1; 2nd time*]
24 - Money Man/Lil Baby (#52) [7]
Spicy - Ty Dolla $ign/Post Malone (#53) [1]
you broke me first - Tate McRae (#55) [5]
my ex's best friend - Machine Gun Kelly/blackbear (#57) [4; 2nd time]
Diamonds - Sam Smith (#58) [4]
7 Summers - Morgan Wallen (#60) [5; 2nd time*]
Runnin - 21 Savage/Metro Boomin (#61) [2; 2nd time*]

So a couple songs left the Top 40 and slipped to On the Verge this week, Some Girls by Jameson Rodgers and FRANCHISE by Travis Scott and co. I couldn't care less about Some Girls and I'm honestly a little sad that FRANCHISE has flopped so hard.

So our only actual On the Verge debut this week is Spicy by Ty Dolla $ign and Post Malone, thanks to Ty releasing his new album, Featuring Ty Dolla $ign. This is definitely a solid song. The chorus is actually really great and Ty Dolla $ign does really well with the hook. I actually don't think Post Malone works too well with this song. It should've been a solo Ty Dolla $ign song. I just don't love Post's voice with the production here. That being said, it's still a very good song.

7 Summers by Morgan Wallen re-entered On the Verge this week. I seriously hope this leaves again soon.

Some Things Just Blurb Better Together

Dreams took quite a tumble this week, so I can't possibly see it sticking around for much longer.

Bang! dropped a couple of spots this week, which really sucks.

So did What You Know Bout Love. It makes sense though, since The Woo and For The Night are better.

Lonely took a huge hit this week, but to my surprise, it's still here. Maybe this will be a hit. I still have huge doubts though.

Both Dynamite and ROCKSTAR fell out of the top 10 this week. That kind of sucks since they're both great, but I'm definitely glad that they both hit #1.

WAP is also starting to drop, which is good since it really shouldn't have hit #1 here.

Mood fell off of #1, but don't fret because Justin Bieber and J Balvin released a remix of it, so it might return to #1 after Ariana Grande's album bomb.

Oh, yeah! Exits! The Top 40 exits were: Mood Swings by Pop Smoke and Lil Tjay, Whole Lotta Choppas by Sada Baby and Nicki Minaj and Break My Heart by Dua Lipa. Mood Swings was one of the worst Pop Smoke songs, so I'm not too sad that it's gone. Whole Lotta Choppas wasn't that good, so I don't care that it's gone and Break My Heart was old.

As for On the Verge, we lost You're Mines Still by Yung Bleu and Drake and Hawái by Maluma. You're Mines Still was forgettable and Hawái's probably gonna re-enter and maybe debut the Top 40 due to a remix by The Weeknd.

Hot 100 Exits from Past Top 40/On the Verge Songs
OK Not To Be OK - Marshmello/Demi Lovato (#80) [#36] {6 weeks}
Glock In My Lap - 21 Savage/Metro Boomin (#82) [#19] {3 weeks}
Ice Cream - BLACKPINK/Selena Gomez (#84) [#13] {8 weeks}
Smile - Juice WRLD/The Weeknd (#86) [#8] {10 weeks} [x2]
Breaking Me - Topic/A7S (#87) [#53] {13 weeks}
Girls in the Hood - Megan Thee Stallion (#89) [#28] {17 weeks}
I Called Mama - Tim McGraw (#91) [#53] {12 weeks}
bloody valentine - Machine Gun Kelly (#92) [#50] {4 weeks}
One Too Many - Keith Urban/P!nk (#98) [#62] {4 weeks}
DOLLAZ ON MY HEAD - Gunna/Young Thug (#99) [#38] {19 weeks} [x2]

I'm not surprised that OK Not To Be OK is gone, I definitely expected this from Glock In My Lap, Ice Cream, I'm fine with it leaving. Smile left again, and like I said earlier, it wasn't that good, I wish Breaking Me had hit the Top 40, Girls in the Hood was just alright, so I don't really care. I'm glad that I Called Mama never broke On the Verge, bloody valentine was good although I expected it to leave. One Too Many got robbed of debuting the Top 40 and I haven't listened to DOLLAZ ON MY HEAD.

Kwaheri, everybody! See you all tomorrow.
