Last Year's #1: All I Want for Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey [3/5 weeks at #1]

Oh yeah, I guess it's still Christmastime. Oh boy. Anyways, this is the last week of these songs being here, so we won't have to deal with this for too long. The first song is This Christmas by Donny Hathaway and I actually quite like this song. I really like the jazz sound that this song has and Donny Hathaway sounds really good here.

Okay, so Bing Crosby has another song now, being Mele Kalikimaka with The Andrews Sisters. I find a lot of Bing Crosby's Christmas music to be pretty boring and this is no exception. I prefer almost every cover of this.

A classic is next, Blue Christmas by Elvis Presley. I quite like this song, I think Elvis works spectacularly with this song and the song itself is pretty catchy. I also really like whatever the heck the backup singers are doing. It actually fits surprisingly well with the song.

You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch by Thurl Ravenscroft is next. This song's fine. Thurl sounds decent and the song's interesting enough.

Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney makes its debut this week. Again, I find this to be one of the more obscure Christmas songs.

Here Comes Santa Claus, It's Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas and Home for the Holidays all re-entered this week. Not much to say on that one except that it was expected.

Best Debut: This Christmas - Donny Hathaway

Biggest Drop: willow - Taylor Swift (-37): Oof. Well, I guess I expected it to drop so much from its #1 debut last week, but this is still a little sad.

Biggest Jump: Run Rudolph Run - Chuck Berry (+19): Ok cool.

Gnat - Eminem (#60) [1]
Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree - Justin Bieber (#61) [1]

Please Come Home for Christmas by the Eagles is the first On the Verge debut. This song's fine. It's not too interesting, but it's fine. Whoever's singing sounds good and the production's alright.

Yeah, so I really like Michael Jackson, and I think he had a really good voice for his age when he was younger, but oh boy, it's pretty annoying. Yeah, that's pretty much all I have to say. (Oh yeah, by the way, the song is Santa Claus Is Coming To Town by The Jackson 5)

Oh yeah, The Beach Boys existed. These guys really only have one sound and in their Christmas song, Little Saint Nick, they don't really change up that formula at all. It's fine.

I've already expressed how much I like Michael Bublé's Christmas music and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is definitely no exception here. I really love his voice with this music and this is a great song too.

Okay, just copy+paste everything I said about Mele Kalikimaka except with I'll Be Home For Christmas.

Oh dang, Hallelujah by Carrie Underwood and John Legend is pretty great. Both of these artists have fantastic voices and they sound pretty good together. This song is only slightly boring, but I think their voices definitely more than make up for it.

Wow, this was a while ago. Afterglow by Ed Sheeran makes its On the Verge debut this week. I really like this song. I think Ed Sheeran sounds pretty great here aside from the robotic harmonies and the production and the song as a whole are good enough to support a slower song like this. This is a pretty good song and although I personally prefer his faster stuff, I definitely don't hate these types of songs either.

Okay, so Eminem released Music To Be Murdered By - Side B on this week and Gnat debuts On the Verge this week. This song's fine. It's definitely not one of his best and can't really compare with songs like Godzilla, Love The Way You Lie or The Monster. The production's not too interesting and there's way too many COVID-19 references for me to enjoy this.

Yeah, so Justin Bieber released an Amazon Prime Music original cover of Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree and while I have Amazon Prime Music, I really don't feel like going out of my way just to listen to a Christmas song. So... yeah, no opinion.

Best Debut: Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Michael Bublé

  5. So I did a thing. (Yes more reveals are coming) but other than that, I did a whole show with my favorite songs in the similar format of Hits 1. It features my voice and everything. If you wanna give it a listen https://www.dropbox.com/s/8mdm2acecdrhw0z/Feb%2013%202021.mp3?dl=0

Give me your thoughts and if I should keep doing it. I plan on doing it Wed/Thur and post on my crownnote that saturday. Other than raising my voice and the fade ins, what should I work on?
