2020 - A Year in Review

Welcome to A Year in Review! In this post, you'll find some random stats on the Weekend Countdown, as well as a few from my other weekly/monthly posts. Our very first stat that we're gonna go through is our #1s of the year.

Weekend Countdown #1s
Adore You - Harry Styles [10 weeks at #1]
Watermelon Sugar - Harry Styles [7 weeks at #1]
Blinding Lights - The Weeknd [6 weeks at #1]
Falling - Harry Styles [6 weeks at #1]

Monsters - All Time Low/Demi Lovato/blackbear [1 week at #1]
No Judgement - Niall Horan [1 week at #1]
Old Me - 5 Seconds of Summer [1 week at #1]

Other than the excessive One Direction members here, it really wasn't a bad list, there were for sure some great #1s here, most notably Blinding Lights, Circles and Come & Go, but all of the Harry Styles kept it from being a good list of #1s.

Hunger Games Countdown #1s
Mind Is A Prison - Alec Benjamin [4 weeks at #1]
Blueberry Faygo - Lil Mosey [2 weeks at #1]
Know Your Worth - Khalid/Disclosure [2 weeks at #1]

What A Man Gotta Do - Jonas Brothers [1 week at #1]
7 Summers - Morgan Wallen [1 week at #1]
10/10 - Rex Orange County [1 week at #1]

Yeah, so obviously this list is super long, with the Hunger Games Countdown being whack and extremely unpredictable, so I don't have too much to say, except that I'm disappointed that Daisies hit #1.

If the Countdown Made Sense #1s
Blinding Lights - The Weeknd [8 weeks at #1]
Mood - 24kGoldn/iann dior [7 weeks at #1]
Savage - Megan Thee Stallion [4 weeks at #1]

Say So - Doja Cat [3 weeks at #1]

cardigan - Taylor Swift [1 week at #1]

Since this wasn't going for the entire year and the rules fluctuated a bit, this list is a tad weird *cough*cardigan*cough*. But, the big hits are still here.

Hot 100 #1s
The Box - Roddy Ricch [11 weeks at #1]
ROCKSTAR - DaBaby/Roddy Ricch [7 weeks at #1]

Toosie Slide - Drake [1 week at #1]
TROLLZ - 6ix9ine/Nicki Minaj [1 week at #1]
Watermelon Sugar - Harry Styles [1 week at #1]
willow - Taylor Swift [1 week at #1]

This was a pretty good list, but there was a lot of #1 debuts this year.

So I thought since so many One Direction members hit #1 on the Countdown this year, it would be cool to see what the #1s would have been had none of them hit #1.

Weekend Countdown #1s If One Direction Never Existed
Blinding Lights - The Weeknd [7 weeks at #1]
Circles - Post Malone [5 weeks at #1]
Break My Heart - Dua Lipa [4 weeks at #1]

Last year, this award went to The Chainsmokers, ILLENIUM and Lennon Stella for their song Takeaway and this year, I'm giving it too... Zedd and Kehlani with Good Thing! This song was amazing and there was absolutely no reason it should've dropped out of Hit-Bound.
