Last Year's #1: Señorita - Shawn Mendes/Camila Cabello [1/1 week at #1]

Our lowest debut actually comes in pretty high, at #26, we have a song that actually debuted the Hot 100 last week, but jumped really high, skipping On the Verge to come join the party. I'm talking about Mood by 24kGoldn and iann dior. I've already talked about this song earlier this week, and I have a feeling I'm gonna have to talk about this tomorrow again, so I'm gonna keep this short. The song's super catchy, both dudes sound great, and the instrumental is spectacular. Amazing song.

At #14, we have another song that I've had to review quite a bit recently, Midnight Sky by Miley Cyrus. Again, the production's really great, but Miley doesn't suit the song all that well. Clearly, it reflected here too, as it missed the top 10 on its debut, so I wouldn't expect it to do that well. It's still a decent song though.

Next is a country top 10 debut. Which legit never happens. Like, ever. This is a big deal, guys. Anyways, this song is by Morgan Wallen, and it's called 7 Summers. Unfortunately, this isn't that good. His voice doesn't sound all that good... like, at all, and the instrumental really doesn't help at all. It's really boring, and shouldn't have debuted as high as it did.

A good top 10 debut comes up next, and it just barely missed the #1 spot, as Laugh Now Cry Later by Drake featuring Lil Durk comes in at #2. I kind of wished it took the spot from WAP, but whatever, there's not much you can do. Drake actually sounds like he cares about this song, which is already a huge step up from POPSTAR and Toosie Slide. The production's actually pretty solid, and the beat is great. Lil Durk adds a nice level of freshness, and he actually delivers pretty well. This is a good song. Not great though, because the production's kind of repetitive. But good.

Best Debut: Mood - 24kGoldn/iann dior

Biggest DROP!!!: Smile - Juice WRLD/The Weeknd (-27): I expected this to drop, but I'm still a little disappointed. #teamcome&goforlife though.

Biggest Jump: Be Like That - Kane Brown/Swae Lee/Khalid & For The Night - Pop Smoke/Lil Baby/DaBaby (+3): *snickers* three spots as the biggest jump. That's just sad. Good for both songs though, I think I'm starting to like For The Night more, even if Lil Baby is there.

My Top 5 Picks
#5: Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat) - Jawsh 685/Jason Derulo
#4: ROCKSTAR - DaBaby/Roddy Ricch
#3: Come & Go - Juice WRLD/Marshmello
#2: Mood - 24kGoldn/iann dior
#1: The Woo - Pop Smoke/50 Cent/Roddy Ricch

I Love My Country - Florida Georgia Line

All of the songs that left the Top 40 this week re-entered On the Verge: Girls in the Hood, Say So, Rain On Me and my future. Take a wild stab at which two I like, and which two I dislike.

Anyways, our first of only two debuts this week is One Of Them Girls by Lee Brice. This starts as one of your typical country songs, with the mediocre verses and alright production, but then the chorus happens, and I actually like it. Lee Brice's voice actually sounds pretty good, and the instrumentation is actually pretty good there, and I like how it builds. Yeah, good song.

Lovin' On You by Luke Combs, on the other hand, is your typical country song. Plucky guitar, not great vocals and an overall boring experience. Not much else to say here.

Best Debut: One Of Them Girls - Lee Brice

That Was Seven Blurbs Ago

We lost a few On the Verge songs this week: Hard To Forget, Done, the 1, Supalonely, Like That and Bluebird. Sad to see Hard To Forget and Like That gone, but happy that Supalonely and Bluebird are gone.

Party Girl, We Paid and Intentions all took six spot dips to the bottom 5. I'd be fine with all of them leaving next week.

cardigan took a pretty big hit this week too. I seriously didn't expect it to flop this hard.

Rags2Riches fell ten spots this week. Kind of sucks that it didn't stay in the top 20 for much longer after its debut.

Okay, how is Circles still here? Seriously? I still like it, but how?

I Hope made it into the top 10 this week, which I guess I'm pretty happy about.

Yeah, that just about raps up this week. See where Dynamite by BTS lands next week, and if it nabs the top spot.

Hot 100 Exits from Past Top 40 Songs
Hard To Forget - Sam Hunt (#43) [#26] {20 weeks}
Supalonely - BENEE/Gus Dapperton (#51) [#39] {22 weeks}
Life's A Mess - Juice WRLD/Halsey (#97) [#9] {6 weeks}
Move Ya Hips - A$AP Ferg/Nicki Minaj/MadeinTYO (#99) [#19] {2 weeks}
Be Kind - Marshmello/Halsey (#100) [#29] {15 weeks}

Sucks to see Hard To Forget and Be Kind leave, I'm glad Supalonely is gone, I expected Life's A Mess to leave and HA Move Ya Hips was such a flop.

Kwaheri, everybody! See you all tomorrow.

  2. Hey, Countdown Reviewa, out of curiosity, did you mean to make your username Countdown Reviews, and was it a typo? Or was it intentional to type it like that? Just wondering.
