Last Year's #1: bad guy - Billie Eilish [1/1 week at #1]

Our first and lowest entrant this week is by Kane Brown, and it's called Cool Again. I seriously didn't think I would like this, since Kane Brown is a pretty big hit and miss for me, and he was my least favourite part of Be Like That, but I think he works much better with this song than with that one. He's the highlight here, but the song just seems to fit more with him. The chorus is great, the verses are really good, and his voice is honestly pretty solid. The only parts I don't really like are the guitar, and that weird bridge. But other than that, this is a good song.

Geez, back-to-back Kane Brown. Like I said earlier, I think Cool Again is better than Be Like That featuring Swae Lee and Khalid. The best part in this song are the features. Swae Lee does a good job here (for Swae Lee standards. Nothing can be better than Sunflower) and Khalid delivers a really solid verse, but I find that this song gets kind of boring. The production is super uninteresting, and the melody's alright. Still good, but definitely not as good as Cool Again.

It's been a while since I last reviewed this next song, but it returns for its second week this week. I'm talking about Girls in the Hood by Megan Thee Stallion. This definitely isn't as good as Savage, but I think Megan still has really good flow, and the chorus is good. The production's alright, and I think Meg does a good job at working with it, but this isn't as good as Savage. Still good though.

Wow, Rod Wave must really not use that tactic, since his song Rags2Riches featuring ATR Son Son makes its debut this week pretty high. Which is great, since this song is pretty good. I think the chorus is pretty good, even if it's just one line repeated over and over again, and the beat was pretty well-made. It feels a little boring at parts, and it's kind of short, but it's still not bad.

I guess Juice WRLD's label had another song that they wanted to add to Legends Never Die, since Smile with The Weeknd was just released. This is definitely good (I mean, I liked a good chunk of the album). I think The Weeknd adds some to the song, and he delivers pretty well, but I have a problem with this. This should be much better. The chorus is only alright, and The Weeknd uses his voice that he used for the boring songs from After Hours, which just brings me bad memories. But I still think it's alright. Juice sounds great.

The #1 debut that I'm pretty sure everyone saw coming is next. WAP by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. The production's alright, and both girls deliver pretty well, but there's an obvious problem with this. The lyrics are... questionable, to say the very least. The clean version censors it to "Wet and gushy", which is weird. Yeah, I don't think there's much else to say about this.

Best Entrant: Cool Again - Kane Brown

Biggest DROP!!!: my future - Billie Eilish (-32): I expected this to drop, but this dropped HARD. Hopefully, this is the song that makes Billie Eilish fade to irrelevance.

Biggest Jump: Mood Swings - Pop Smoke/Lil Tjay (+8): Wow, I seriously didn't expect this to do better than For The Night, or especially The Woo. Good, though.

Nobody's Love - Maroon 5
The Box - Roddy Ricch (RE-ENTRY)
Hard To Forget - Sam Hunt (RE-ENTRY)
Tap In - Saweetie
Emotionally Scarred - Lil Baby
The Bigger Picture - Lil Baby
Got What I Got - Jason Aldean

Like That - Doja Cat/Gucci Mane (RE-ENTRY)
Bluebird - Miranda Lambert (RE-ENTRY)

A few songs left the Top 40 and re-entered On the Verge this week. The Box, Hard To Forget, the 1 and Bluebird. It really sucks to see The Box and Hard To Forget gone, and I wish the latter had gotten more success, but I'm glad Bluebird's gone.

The only new song this week is a country song, Why We Drink by Justin Moore. This song is essentially just saying "we drink all the time, because we're awesome!" So yeah. Other than that, there's not much else to talk about. His voice is annoying and the production isn't that interesting. Next.

Like That is back again. Hopefully, it'll debut the Top 40 sometime soon.

From Blurbs to Riches

There's two Top 40 songs that left that I haven't already talked about: exile and Move Ya Hips. I'm kind of glad Move Ya Hips wasn't a hit, but it sucks that exile isn't getting any success, since it's really good.

Wishing Well took a huge dip this week. I guess the release of it hasn't really helped all that much.

cardigan also took a huge tumble down to #24. Gotta say, I definitely expected this, and it's not like it deserved to take up a top 10 slot.

Seems like Blueberry Faygo's losing momentum. I'm kind of alright, since it did really well while it was here, but I still really like it, so I'm sad to see it go.

Before You Go is somehow in the top 10. I mean, seriously? This just means it'll stay for even longer on Hits 1.

Bruh, Watermelon Sugar fell to #5 after hitting #1 last week. I didn't really expect that, but I'm not too disappointed.

Hot 100 Exits from Past Top 40 Songs
Falling - Trevor Daniel (#48) [#17] {38 weeks}
Walk Em Down - NLE Choppa/Roddy Ricch (#59) [#38] {20 weeks}
the last great american dynasty - Taylor Swift (#66) [#13] {2 weeks}
my tears ricochet - Taylor Swift (#69) [#16] {2 weeks}
august - Taylor Swift (#73) [#23] {2 weeks}
invisible string - Taylor Swift (#85) [#37] {2 weeks}
mirrorball - Taylor Swift (#93) [#26] {2 weeks}
Blood On My Jeans - Juice WRLD (#96) [#12] {4 weeks}
seven - Taylor Swift (#98) [#35] {2 weeks}

There's not too much to talk about here, since most of it is either folklore songs or the one Legends Never Die song, but we did get rid of two other songs: Falling and Walk Em Down. I really liked Walk Em Down, so it's sad to see that go, but Falling was overdue.

Kwaheri, everybody! See you all soon.
