Countdown Extra: Lights Up - Harry Styles

Our first Selena Gomez debut is Look At Her Now at #40. I used to really hate this song, but it’s so catchy that I just can’t. That’s pretty much all for this one though. I did mention before that it would’ve been a better marketing strategy if she released this one before Lose You To Love Me, but whatever. It’s a pretty good song even if it does remind me a bit of her last couple of albums. *1 week in Hit-Bound, 2 weeks on voting poll

And at #33, we have Lose You To Love Me also by Selena Gomez. This song is just amazing in so many ways. Her voice is actually really good and the instrumentation, when it kicks in at the second verse is also really great. The hook is the best part here even if she says “yeah” after every line. Clearly a lot of people agree with me since it’s already #1 on the Hot 100. I hope it hits #1 here too.

Best Debut: Lose You To Love Me - Selena Gomez

Biggest DROP!!!: Cool - Jonas Brothers (-18): YAY!!!!

Biggest Jump: Nice To Meet Ya - Niall Horan (+15): Um. What? I never expected this song to hit top 5, but… I’ll take it, honestly. I hope this hits #1 if it has a shot.

*sigh* I have no clue why I like Lil Nas X, but I really do. Panini is absolutely no Old Town Road, but it’s still really good. His falsetto could use some work, but other than that, the song is really catchy and the hook is really great. It’s a little short, but I guess that’s a trend with his music. I kind of hope this is just a little less of a hit than Old Town Road. I mean, it’s already hit top 5 on the Hot 100, so that’s a good sign.

This next song is called Take What You Want by Post Malone, Ozzy Osbourne and Travis Scott. Ozzy opens the song with a chorus that actually sounds really great. His voice works really well with the beat (which slaps) and then it turns into a verse by Post, which is also really good, you never know what to expect with Post Malone, and this is a pleasant surprise. It then flows into a chorus by Post which also works well, then it flows into a verse by Travis which is always pretty good. It then goes into another chorus by Ozzy, which then goes into an awesome guitar solo which you have to hear to believe. Overall, this is a great song that I’d love to see debut soon.

Next up we have I Hate LA by Hot Chelle Rae. This song is so minimalistic and boring and there’s really not much to talk about. The storyline here is that somebody lives in LA, and then the guy hates LA because that person is there. Than the person moves away, so he now loves LA. Yup, not much to talk about here.

The beat in this next song is really good. It’s a shame though that the rest of Purple Hat by Sofi Tukker isn’t that good. It’s literally just a person talking on top of a beat. There are some verses, but they’re really weird and the “dancing, people” part is really odd and I just don’t really get this song.

Lose Blurbs To Love Me

We lost 2 songs this week, Dream Boy and Roaring 20s. Neither song was very good and I don’t really care that they left.

I’m surprised Dance Monkey or Higher Love aren’t moving.

You Need To Calm Down fell out of the top 20 entirely. It’s getting old though, so I get it.

Sucker’s finally falling.

Memories and Teeth jumped up a lot!

Our top 5 is crazy. At #5, we have Nice To Meet Ya which just randomly jumped to #5 out of absolutely nowhere, at #4 we have Circles which also came out of nowhere. At #3, we still have Who Do You Love, after so long. At #2, we have Beautiful People which fell off of #1. And at #1, we have Someone You Loved which I’m very happy hit #1 again.

Truth Hurts doesn’t even have a shot anymore.

Takeaway left Hit-Bound this week for a Chainsmokers song that didn’t even debut. Which kind of sucks.
