Countdown Extra: The Motto - Tiësto/Ava Max
We got four debuts and a re-entry this week, and we're kicking it off with Let's go to Hell by Tai Verdes at #30. I reviewed this last week (and by last week, I mean two days ago), so I won't go on for too long here, but this song's great. Tai sounds fantastic here, the production is awesome and the chorus is super catchy and fun. I'm not sure if this is actually becoming a pop hit anywhere other than here, but I'm more than fine with this being here.
Next up, we have Oliver Tree making his Countdown debut this week with Life Goes On, which comes in at #28. I'm not a huge fan of this song. The production's actually somewhat decent, but Oliver Tree sounds awful here, and the song as a whole is just really weird. The chorus is also really annoying, with the "on and on and on" part going on for a bit too long, in my opinion (heh. I'm a rhyming genius). Also, the way it switches at the end makes me feel extremely unnerved, and I don't like it. I'd rather not have this become a hit here (or anywhere, for that matter).
Happier Than Ever re-entered the Countdown this week, which is awesome! It's a great song, and I'm happy that it's getting a second chance here.
At #25, Post Malone and The Weeknd debut with their new song, One Right Now. I like this song, but I feel like it could've been much better. Post and Abel's voices mix really well together, and the chorus is super catchy, but it feels like this collaboration would've worked better if it was a little darker. Oh, well, this is still good. I'd be okay if this was a hit, I'm just slightly underwhelmed.
Speaking of underwhelming, Silk Sonic score their third song on the Weekend Countdown this week with Smokin Out The Window. I really enjoyed Skate, but this is a very disappointing follow-up to that single. It goes back to their slower vibe from Leave The Door Open, which I didn't love, and still don't. Both Bruno and Anderson sound great here, and their smooth vocals work well with the song, but I just find myself a little bored with this.
Best Debut: Let's go to Hell - Tai Verdes
Biggest Drop: STAY - The Kid LAROI/Justin Bieber (-16): Yeah, I definitely expected this to drop soon, but I was kinda hoping that it had a little more time than that, 'cause it's still pretty enjoyable.
Biggest Jump: Better Days - NEIKED/Mae Muller/Polo G (+10): I wasn't really expecting this, but I'm definitely glad. I'd love to see this become a big hit here. I find it kinda funny how Hits 1 chose it as their One to Watch song, but now it's actually blowing up everywhere else.

Before we get going, in case you were wondering why the Hit-Bound list is pretty short this week, it's because One Right Now, Life Goes On and Let's go to Hell all pulled Sunday Bests.
Our first Hit-Bound debut this week comes from somebody we haven't heard from in a while, Avril Lavigne. She returns with her new song, Bite Me, and this is a pop-punk song, which is my favourite genre of hers. Her voice just compliments the pop-punk sound so well, and she doesn't break that trend here. Travis Barker's production doesn't disappoint either. I'm happy that Avril's back, and I'd love for this to become a hit.
So, Taylor Swift released RED (Taylor's Version) this week, and HOLY CRAP guys, it's so good. The first half of the album is super nostalgic for me, and the second half of the album is just filled with amazing songs that I've never heard before. I'd highly suggest you give it a listen if you haven't already (if you don't plan to, at least listen to All Too Well (10 Minute Version)). Anyways, Hits 1 decided to pick up on one of the "From The Vault" songs this week, and, predictably, they chose the Ed Sheeran collab, Run. This song's pretty good. It definitely wouldn't be my choice from the "Vault" songs, I probably would've gone with Message In A Bottle, but this song's pretty nice and chill. Both Taylor and Ed sound great here, and their voices mix pretty well. I'd be okay if this was a hit here, although it's not my favourite.
WOOOOOH! Hits 1 picked up on another Twenty One Pilots song from their album Scaled And Icy! This new single's called The Outside, and it's nothing short of amazing. Obviously, I've been familiar with this one for a while now, but I still enjoy it as much as I ever have. Tyler Joseph sounds great here, especially in the rapping bit, and I really enjoy how different each section is from one other (although, Hits 1 edited out the last one). On top of that, you've got really cool production, and a great, catchy, chorus. Overall, this is a fantastic song, and I hope it can manage to debut the Countdown sooner rather than later.
Next up, we have an artist who we haven't heard from in a bit, JP Saxe. If you remember from last year, he had a song with Julia Michaels called If the World Was Ending, and it was a pretty big hit. Anyways, this week he returns with his new song, Soft Landing, and it's great. I still love JP Saxe's voice, and the production in this song actually evolves really nicely, as opposed to the aforementioned song. It's also a bit of a slower song without being too slow, which is perfect for radio. I'd love to see this become a hit.
We have a newcomer next, Benson Boone, with his brand new song called GHOST TOWN. This is also a great song. It's pretty slow, but Benson sounds amazing here, and some of the lyrics actually hit pretty hard. The production supports the song decently well, and overall, this is just a solid song. I'd love to see this become a hit here.
For our last Hit-Bound debut this week, we have another new song from Tate McRae, with this one being called feel like s**t. Apparently, this is the first song that Tate wrote that actually stems from real experiences, and that definitely shows in this song. The lyrics sound much more genuine compared to something like you broke me first, and you can hear more emotion in her voice. This is yet another slower song, but, again, it evolves nicely, Tate sounds great*, and the production supports the song well. This is probably my second-favourite Tate McRae song after the blackbear collab from earlier this year. Wow, that was a great batch of debuts.
*if that doesn't prove I'm a rhyming genius, I don't know what will
As for re-entries, MONEY re-enters Hit-Bound after dropping out, Faking Love and Cheat Codes' Hurricane enter the Abyss after dropping out of the Countdown this week, and U Gurl enters the Abyss after dropping out of Hit-Bound last week. I'm really sad that MONEY and U Gurl are back, as they're both bad, but Faking Love and Hurricane are both good, so I'm glad they're still here.
As for dropouts, we lost Boyz, Toxic, TWINNEM, Overpass Graffiti, Telepath and Alone. The only two that I'm kinda sad about are Overpass Graffiti and Telepath, as the former started to grow on me, and the latter was great, even if I was never given the chance to really enjoy it.
Best Hit-Bound Debut: The Outside - Twenty One Pilots

Blurb Goes On and On and On and On and On and On and On and On
Our Countdown exits this week were Faking Love, Hurricane, Bad Habits, Paralyzed and Take My Breath. I'm a little sad that Faking Love only spent one week at #30, because it was pretty good. Hurricane was also good, but forgettable, so whatever. Bad Habits and Take My Breath were both great, but also both had some pretty good runs here, so I'm not really complaining. As for Paralyzed, it was almost starting to grow on me...?
*phew* Way 2 Sexy dropped back down to its rightful spot in the bottom 5.
Angel Baby scored a huge boost this week, which is great.
Both Moth To A Flame and Meet Me At Our Spot got four-spot jumps into the top 20 this week, which is awesome for both of them.
A-O-K is likely on its last week here (they also switched back to the original for some reason), which I'm more than okay with.
Memory, Ghost and Who's In Your Head all got big jumps into the top 10 this week, which is great for all of them, because they're all good songs.
Luckily, Fancy Like and Saturday switched places, which is awesome.
Unfortunately, so did INDUSTRY BABY and Cold Heart.
