One year ago, history was made as Sucker made the highest debut ever at #8. It also made a record number of #1 weeks at 13. It then ended at #3 of the year. Good job. Countdown Extra: Sunday Best - Surfaces

Our first debut, down at #41, we have Maniac by a new artist, Conan Gray. This song’s pretty good. I feel like the verses are a little weak, and could use something, but the chorus is really good. It’s extremely catchy, and he sounds really really good here. I really like seeing new artists break out at this time of year, and I’m very excited to see what Conan has to offer.

Skipping Hit-Bound, we have I Love Me by Demi Lovato. This is definitely better than Anyone, and I’m for sure glad this debuted, rather than Anyone. This song is pretty catchy, but I’m just not sure I like it. I may have to formulate a better opinion on it, but for now, it’s just kind of meh. However, I can see this doing really well.

Justin Bieber gets his second song on the countdown from his album Changes, called Intentions featuring Quavo. This is so much better than Yummy. The lyrics are actually somewhat smart, and the production is so much better. Plus, the melodies even are improved on. This song is just so much better than Yummy, that it really deserves this spot. I’m very glad Yummy flopped.

Niall Horan gets the highest debut this week with No Judgement at #30. Meh. This song is kind of boring, and really doesn’t have enough to it as Nice To Meet Ya. I honestly couldn’t care less about this song.

Biggest DROP!!!: Good As Hell - Lizzo (-17): This song’s pretty old. It was due time for it to start dropping.

Biggest Jump: me & ur ghost - blackbear & Bob Dylan - Fall Out Boy (+17): me & ur ghost is very great jumping up like this and I’d love to see it hit the top 20, but why is Bob Dylan getting a second life? It seems really irrelevant at this point.

First up, we have 17 by Pink Sweat$, and I have to say, from the band name, this is not what I expected. This is a ballad. Yeah, you probably didn’t see that coming either. It’s not bad by any means, I think I just need time to formulate an opinion (again). It’s definitely leaning more towards green though.

Next up is Moral of the Story by Ashe, and this song is honestly really good. Ashe is actually a really great song, and the writing is great too, which apparently FINNEAS worked on (Billie Eilish’s brother). So yeah, this song is pretty good. Although, it was released last year, so I'm not sure why it's big now. [Editor's Note (also me, by the way): Tik Tok]

Next up, we have death bed by Powfu and beabadoobee (Yes, that’s a real artist's name). I think the female voice, which I think is beabadoobee, is a little persistent. Because it never stops. Powfu just kind of raps overtop of it. But other than that, this is a very solid song, and I’m not sure why Hits 1 just decided not to show us this and Moral of the Story on the voting poll. [Editor's Note: This is also Tik Tok... apparently. Our Hit-Bound is corrupted]

Hits 1 seems to be insistent on picking up Monsta X’s music, as we get YOU CAN’T HOLD MY HEART after WHO DO U LOVE? (a Hit-Bound dropout last year). This song honestly isn’t bad. It’s extremely catchy, and it really doesn’t sound all that much like k-pop. Even though it is, that really doesn’t bother me as much as it should.

Finally, we get more of The Chainsmokers (who else?) teaming up with blink-182, on P.S. I Hope You’re Happy. This is very good. All the artists have some pretty good voices, and the “I won’t be shy for the sake of it” line is pretty great. Travis Barker also kills it with the percussion. Very good song by The Chainsmokers.

We lost four songs this week: Señorita and Lover were pretty old, and were for sure destined to leave. Who Do You Love was really old and shouldn’t have lasted as long as it did for being a #1 of the year. As for 10/10, it should’ve lasted a lot longer.

Gains:

Take What You Want: Very glad this song is getting success.
Heartless: As for this, not so much. It is slightly growing on me though.
Dance Monkey: This song has been a rollercoaster. Really hope it hits top 20 though.
Stupid Love: For sure glad to see this in the top 20 in its second week.
Blinding Lights: I’m VERY happy to see this in the top 20.
Demons: I’m not sure why this is in the top 20, let alone the countdown at all.
You should be sad: I’m super happy this is close to the top 10.

Wanted: I have no clue why this song even debuted at all. I’m very glad to see it leaving.
Lose You To Love Me: This song should’ve lasted for a bit longer at the top.
