Hey, all! I apologize for this post being late (again), but I should be falling into a better schedule soon... except not this upcoming weekend, because I'm gone til Monday. But after that. Promise. Anyways, I've come to the unfortunate decision to discontinue my weekly Top 40 posts, because I simply don't have time anymore. Countdown Extra: Numb Little Bug - Em Beihold
Our first debut this weekend is Anxiety by Coi Leray, which comes in at #26. I've been enjoying this song lately. It's definitely a huge step up from TWINNEM, which is nice, and that's probably mostly because Coi Leray's actually taking herself seriously in this song. I think Coi Leray sounds really great throughout this song, and her voice works really well with the beat here. The best part is definitely the rapping verse, because Coi's flow is really good. I can see this fading on me, because it's pretty forgettable, but for now, I'm happy to have it here.
Next up, in fact immediately after that, we have a song that's been in and out of Hit-Bound a lot, The Motto by Tiësto and Ava Max. Okay, okay, this song is pretty good. I wasn't a huge fan of it at first, but it's definitely started to grow on me. The dark vibe here is pretty cool, and Ava Max works surprisingly well with it. The chorus is really catchy, and the production is great. I kinda like the vocal effects that are on Ava Max's voice here, I think they add to the vibe of the song. Overall, this is just a really solid song, and I'd love for it to do well on pop radio.
Unfortunately, emo girl by Machine Gun Kelly and WILLOW decided to debut after just one week in Hit-Bound. Yeah, this didn't need to happen. This is definitely the most annoying Machine Gun Kelly song that Hits 1 has picked up on. I don't know why, but MGK just doesn't sound good here. He sounds kinda nasally in the chorus, which sucks. The production is kinda messy, with everything blending together, and the lyrics are really awkward and weird. The only saving grace of this is WILLOW, because she sounds great here. But yeah, she can't save the song too much.
I'm much happier about this next song only spending a week in Hit-Bound. It's Tate McRae's newest, she's all i wanna be coming in at #21. This is an amazing song. It's easily the best Tate McRae song I've ever heard, mainly due to it being more upbeat and guitar-driven. Tate sounds fantastic here, probably the best she's ever sounded in a song. I really love this song, and I hope that it becomes a hit.
Best Debut: she's all i wanna be - Tate McRae
Biggest Drop: Shivers - Ed Sheeran (-4): Haha, I love how quickly this is falling after not being #1 anymore. Kinda makes you question why it was #1 for so long, though...
Biggest Jump: Love It When You Hate Me - Avril Lavigne/blackbear (+13): I'm pretty happy with this being just outside the top 10. It's better than Bite Me, so I'd love for it to do better than Bite Me.

First up we have a brand-new Doja Cat song, with a cover of Hole's Celebrity Skin. Yeah, if you told me that this was a Doja Cat song without me knowing that, I wouldn't believe you. It's pretty pop-punk, which is definitely a different vibe for Doja, and I'm not sure if I love it. The production is really loud and grainy, and I'm not so sure it adds to the song like it did in Happier Than Ever by Billie Eilish. I guess Doja sounds pretty good here, but she doesn't really fit with the song. So, this one's a pass from me. Oh, yeah! Also, this past week, I listened to Planet Her, and I have one question... why were the singles the songs that they were? There are some great songs on that album, like Naked, Payday and Tonight, and I'm not sure why all of the singles were low-to-mid. Oh, well, it's a solid album nonetheless.
Ah, here's the Doja Cat song I was expecting. And it's... not by Doja Cat. It's Closer by Saweetie and H.E.R., who makes her first Hits 1 appearance with this one. This song's honestly a bop. H.E.R. sounds alright in her chorus, even if I think she's singing a little too high. It doesn't bother me too much, though. Saweetie sounds great in her verses, which is good, because she's been pretty 50/50 on whether I find her parts extremely annoying or really good. Yeah, I really have not much else to say about this song, it seems like it's gonna be a hit, and I'm really happy with that.
Next up is a song that Hits 1 picked up from seemingly nowhere, but it's a good song, so I'm all for it. It's Sunroof by Nicky Youre and dazy. This song's really fun. Nicky sounds pretty good, the chorus is really catchy, the production is great, this is just an all-around well-made and great song. I can see myself hearing this song in a year or two, and going, "oh, yeah! I forgot about this one!". I hope it debuts.
Anyone ask for a fourth Ed Sheeran/Taylor Swift collaboration? No? Too bad! You get another, a remix of a song from Ed's =, The Joker And The Queen. This is easily the worst collaboration these two have done so far. Objectively, the song's fine. But I find it SO BORING. Both artists sound fine, the production's fine, but literally the only thing that grabs my attention here is the occasional, awkward, poker reference. That's not a great thing. Yeah, this has no reason to be on radio, and I really hope it doesn't stick around here for too long, because it's an extremely boring song.
Our Hit-Bound dropouts this week are Chosen, Boys Don't Cry and don't miss me. I'm really sad that Chosen's already gone. I mean, come on Hits 1. You could've at least pretended like you considered this one for the Countdown. Boys Don't Cry is in the Abyss, and is gaining on radio, so I'm not too worried about it. As for don't miss me, it was really forgettable, so I don't care at all that it's gone.
Okay, I really like The Weekend, but why is it still here? It's been seventeen weeks, and it hasn't been played on the station a single time outside of Hit-Bound.
Best Hit-Bound Debut: Sunroof - Nicky Youre/dazy

That's the Blurb-o, mm-mm
Our Countdown exits this week were Need to Know, Easy On Me, Meet Me At Our Spot and feel like s**t. Need to Know and Easy On Me were both overrated and did pretty well here, so I'm not about to complain that they're gone. Meet Me At Our Spot was great, and it definitely should've peaked higher, but it spent a while here, so it's okay. As for feel like s**t, it was never too memorable, and she's all i wanna be is better, so...
High got a huge jump off of its debut last week, which is cool. I'm still not too sold on it, but I don't mind it being here.
For whatever reason, Cold Heart jumped up a couple spots. I really hope that this leaves soon and doesn't just stick around for a really long time for no apparent reason.
Better Days and Message In A Bottle switched spots, which is... fine. I would've liked to see Better Days hit #1 after THATS WHAT I WANT, but I definitely don't mind Message In A Bottle being up there.
Speaking of THATS WHAT I WANT, it continued to block Overpass Graffiti for the third week, which is awesome. I do have a feeling that this is the last week this will happen, though. Three weeks is still a lot though, so I'm happy that it's managed to stay up there for that long.
