Countdown Extra: Boyfriend - Dove Cameron

Our first debut of the week is our brand new One to Watch, Eddie Benjamin, and his new song, Weatherman at #29. Yeah, I'm still not a huge fan of this one. I'll give the song this, it's pretty fun, and the production's pretty great. However, I'm not big on Eddie's voice, and I find the chorus pretty annoying. The fact that I think that this early on isn't a good sign. This is definitely one of the worst One to Watch songs we've had in a long time. I hope this doesn't stick around for too long after it isn't the One to Watch anymore, even though songs have been tending to do that lately.

Coming out of the Abyss, we have When I'm Gone by Alesso and Katy Perry debuting at a very high #19. We haven't heard much from Katy Perry lately, and what we have heard from her was pretty underwhelming, with songs like Small Talk and Never Really Over being pretty substanceless, and songs like Daisies and Harleys In Hawaii being straight-up bad. But, now she's back with a banger. Seriously, this song is great. Alesso's production is fantastic here, and while I could do without the chopped-up vocals in the drop, it doesn't ruin the song at all. Katy Perry sounds great in this song, and her voice fits the dark(er) production quite well. I'm pretty sure this will be a hit, and I'd be extremely happy if that was the case. Oh yeah, also, I didn't remember until this week that Spyder Harrison pronounces Alesso's name "Alessio". Not sure where he finds that 'i' from, but whatever.

Biggest Drop: THATS WHAT I WANT - Lil Nas X (-5): Oh, come on. This one definitely should've stuck around for a bit longer. It's honestly kinda ridiculous how quickly they're letting some of these songs go.

Biggest Jump: Numb Little Bug - Em Beihold (+8): On the other hand, I'm very happy to see this song jumping. It's really grown on me lately, it's honestly just a great song.

Our one and only Hit-Bound debut this week is the return of Joe Jonas' band, DNCE. I remember a couple songs from these guys, Cake By The Ocean and Kissing Strangers, and both are fantastic, so I was very excited for this collab with Kygo, Dancing Feet. Boy, was I not disappointed. It's a little hard to tell that there's a band here, and it easily could've just been Kygo x Joe Jonas, and I never would've known the difference, but that doesn't bother me too much, because Kygo's production is fantastic, and fits Joe Jonas' voice really well. The chorus is really catchy, the drop is great, and the only part that I don't love is the "da-da-da-da-dancing feet" part, because Joe sounds a little weird, but other than that, this song's great, and I'd love to see it do well here.

When I'm Blurbs, I'm Never Really Blurbs

Our two Countdown exits this week were Cold Heart and Better Days. I'm very happy to finally be done with Cold Heart, because I never liked it, but Better Days was great, and should've held on for a bit longer.

For whatever reason, Closer dropped to #30 this week. Seriously, Hits 1? You better not give up on this song quickly.

On the bright side though, that means that Have Mercy isn't at #30 anymore, and it jumped to #28. That's still not very high, but it's not four weeks in a row at the bottom spot, so I'd argue it's better.

Uh oh. We better not be making Do It To It a thing.

High is in the top 15 now, which I'm totally fine with. I've been somewhat enjoying it lately.

For whatever reason, both Message In A Bottle and Oh My God dropped out of the top five this week. I'm sadder about the former than I am about the latter, but I honestly thought that both songs had a shot at #1. Guess not.

Luckily, abcdefu is back in the top five. Can we please make this a #1 hit?

Also, Enemy and Light Switch both jumped up to #3 and #2, respectively. That's awesome that we have both of my two favourite songs on the Countdown right now in the top three. I'd love for both of these to hit #1.
