Countdown Extra: Angels & Demons - jxdn

First up is a couple of songs that I reviewed last week, starting with Dan + Shay’s newest song, I Should Probably Go To Bed. This is their fourth song on the Weekend Countdown, after Tequila, Speechless and 10,000 Hours, and this is probably one of my favourites. Both Dan and Shay sound pretty good, and the chorus and verses sound really good. The production leaves quite a bit to be desired though, as there’s not much there. But I think the writing and vocals make up for it (Except for the bridge, where whoever’s singing doesn’t sound that good). But yeah, this is good. I hope it does well.

At #28, we have another song that I reviewed last week. my future by Billie Eilish is just another bad Billie Eilish song. Her voice doesn’t sound that good, and there’s essentially no production at the start. It legit puts me to sleep. It reminds me of when the party’s over, but worse. The beat kicks in later, and it makes the song a bit better, but it takes much too long to come in to redeem this song. I hope this isn’t as big of a hit as everything i wanted or bad guy. It’s not as bad as those songs though.

If I’m being honest right now, I really didn’t expect this next song to debut. Lose Somebody by Kygo and OneRepublic comes up next, and this is one of my favourites right now. I love it when Kygo collaborates with pop-rock bands, like Born to Be Yours with Imagine Dragons. I really like his deep house sound with the pop-rock vocals. Ryan Tedder sounds fantastic here, and he compliments the track super well. The writing is really good, and I really like these “sad songs disguised in a happy melody” songs, kind of like Circles. So yeah, I hope this does well, although I’m not too hopeful.

Daisies re-entered this week. There was really no reason for this to come back, as it absolutely sucks. I hope it flops.

Next is another huge rap song, WHATS POPPIN by Jack Harlow. I really like this song. The piano line is really good, and the beat works really well with it. Jack’s voice is fantastic, and his flow is really good. The chorus is really good, but I like the remix much better, since Tory Lanez and DaBaby add so much to the song. I’m really excited to see what Jack Harlow’s gonna do in the future.

Heather also re-entered. Again, no right to be here since it sucks.

...And our last entrant and third re-entry, at #5 (which I don’t really count as beating Sucker’s record, because it’s a re-entry) is… me & ur ghost by blackbear? What the heck? This song lost its traction here a while ago, and never had any traction anywhere else. I’m not sure why this is back, since it left two months ago, and why it’s at #5. I hope it leaves again soon, since there’s really no point to it being here.

Biggest DROP!!!: Break My Heart - Dua Lipa (-3): This only dropped three spots, but I’m still really sad it didn’t hit #1. It really deserved to.

Biggest Jump: Come & Go - Juice WRLD/Marshmello (+11): WOOOOOOO! I’m very happy that this song’s becoming a hit. It seriously deserves to be one.

Blueberry Faygo left the Countdown and re-entered Hit-Bound this week. While I’m sad it’s gone, I’m happy it’s not completely gone.

So both Don’t Rush and Wishing Well came back this week. I didn’t really expect either of them to come back, but I’m really glad that they’re here. I hope they both debut soon.

This week’s Countdown Extra is next, Angels & Demons by jxdn (which is pronounced Jayden. Don’t ask). This song has a huge rock vibe to it, and I think I like it. jxdn’s voice isn’t that great, but I think the production makes up for it. The instrumentation works really well with the song. I can definitely see this fading on me though, and I highly doubt it’ll debut, especially considering it’s not on the Voting Poll.

Next is a literal ANTHEM right now, F2020 by Avenue Beat. This song is just absolutely hilarious. It’s all about what’s happening right now, but with a very funny perspective on it. It’s basically just saying: “Screw this year, can we move on to the next one?” and I like it a lot. Their voices are honestly pretty good, and the production fits well with it too. Good song.

Saweetie gets her Hits 1 debut next with Tap In, and I really don’t like it. I don’t love her voice all that much, and the chorus is super annoying. Her rapping is alright, but overall, I just don’t like it. I’ll give a more thorough review if it debuts.

More Taylor Swift music has already been released from her album folklore, and this one’s called exile with Bon Iver. This is easily the best song off of the album. I know some people don’t like Bon Iver’s voice that much, but I actually really like it. I agree that his voice is freakishly low in the first verse, but he sounds really good throughout the rest of the song. Taylor sounds fantastic as always, and the duet works really well. Taylor and Bon Iver have really great chemistry, and it really shows in the second part of the song. I legit get chills listening to it. The writing is great, and the production is actually somewhat interesting, compared to the rest of the album. Yeah, I hope this does extremely well here.

Sometimes You Gotta Blurb Somebody (Again, don’t take that out of context)

We lost seven songs this week: MAMACITA, death bed, Blueberry Faygo, No Judgement, Savage, Be Kind and Sunday Best. I thought MAMACITA was gaining momentum, so I’m honestly kind of surprised that it’s gone. death bed should’ve left a long time ago, and never should’ve been a hit. I already talked about Blueberry Faygo, and No Judgement shouldn’t have done as well as it did. I’m really surprised that Savage left from so high, because it still is a huge hit, and Be Kind and Sunday Best were losing momentum anyways, so it makes sense, but OH MY GOSH, Sunday Best just straight-up YEETED off the chart, dropping off from #6. That’s a new record folks. Although, I’m not sure I’d count it as that, since the Countdown got shortened. So yeah.

We also lost three Hit-Bound songs: Banana, Together and Ur So F**kInG cOoL. Banana and Together were just alright, so I’m not too sad that Together never debuted, but Ur So F**kInG cOoL was ROBBED. It should’ve debuted a long time ago, but didn’t only because the Countdown isn’t 45 songs anymore. Thaaaaanks, Hits 1.

Should I even mention Roses at this point, or is it getting kind of redundant by now?

Savage Love is just hanging outside of the top 10. Hopefully it jumps in soon.

Rain On Me? You alright, buddy?

Why did we get rid of great songs like Savage when Before You Go is still in the top 10? Like, what?
